Some natives never considered occupying land as "owning" it either. They considered the land to be like the ocean or the air. Someone can use it while they are there, but when they die, they cannot use it anymore and someone else uses it for a while.

Also, if they thought that the game was diminishing, they would pull up stakes and go to a spot where game was more plentiful.

That makes sense. We can't ever really own anything because one day we'll take the ole dirt nap and someone else occupies where we were. Seems like the writer of Ecclesiastes spoke something along those lines . Didn't stop anyone from accumulating others stuff though.
