Very well...
Shut down all RC schools and move the kids into the public system...
That's fair enough.
I've actually supported that all along, from the perspective that by accepting public money, the board relinquishes executive independence. They'd be better off to fund themselves.
I don't know much about the history. Some people mentioned it was a concession as a condition for confederation. That would give it special status.

So what you are saying is, that not only is the existance of the seperate school system in breach of the fundamental cornerstone of democracy, seperation of church and state, but that they are recieving a better education then the children attending the public school system?Of course, that way EVERYBODY get's a substandard education.
Bad enough those schools had to dump the Lords Prayer to appease the whiners.

Very well,
We need to end the in-eqaulity today, and invest that money and expertise, into the public system...ASAP.
Thanx for pointing that out gerryh.
Its part of our constitution, its part of confederation.
I stand corrected, still standing and still standing by my opinion on the seperate school system though.Side note: Thats America.
The fundemental cornerstone of OUR democracy is the mixing of church and state.
Even the charter of rights and freedoms, a recent addition, only grants you rights through grace of god, nor does it negate elements of the constitution in place before it was put into place. Our head of state is a religious authority and guardian of the Church.
Our laws are very clearly in favour of mixing church and state. Whether or not thats a good thing is another matter, but our society has always been about mixing church and state.

Actually, that act appeased the Constitution.... not the whiners. Whining about how prayers in schools have been eliminated is funny.
let's force Christianity upon everyone! Let's have the State (thru public schools) foist a particular religion on kids... idiotic.
Really, if you read it close, where does the Lords Prayer say Christian?
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lords_prayerThe Lord's Prayer,[1] also known as the Our Father or Pater noster is probably the best-known prayer in Christianity.
We can't go back to something we've never had. What would also make sense is to go back to one public funded system.
I've read it lots.... Agreed, the Lords prayer may well be the best known prayer - but why is it assumed to be a prayer to Christ? The very second word is FATHER....

The maple leaf is the best known leaf in Canada ... does that mean I won't find maple trees in Vermont?
