It’s less than two weeks until Christmas & that GST Holiday on candy & beer flopped, so of course there are heavy ads about carbon tax redistribution rebates.
Rebates are an interesting thing. Other than create jobs for government employees, why charge a tax only to give it back? Or if only certain income groups get it back, is it really a tax on a product that everyone uses, or a wealth redistribution scam.

PepsiCo is refusing to make the temporary change for GST. I wonder what's going to happen for their rebellion. If a big corporation is refusing to make the temporary change, how is it for small businesses. Mind you, Trudy doesn't give a crap about businesses at all nor does he pay attention to "monetary issues" which is obviously quite plain to see, especially now. He doesn't care that his temporary "fix" will cost businesses money. He doesn't care that businesses simply pass increases in taxes & costs to their customers. So really, how much of this is a "savings" for the average consumer? He is the dumbest PM we've ever had & that's saying something.

Prime Minister Justin Trudeau’s carbon tax should be tucked under his arm while he doesn’t let the door hit him on the way out.

And Liberal caucus members need to make sure that happens.

Those in doubt need to ask themselves two questions.

Practically, why should Canadians keep paying the carbon tax for another few months before the next election?

Politically, why should government MPs keep paying a price with voters because of the carbon tax?

The carbon tax can be slayed on Wednesday during the Liberal party’s emergency caucus meeting.

Caucus finally rose up and finally forced the prime minister to face the reality that he can’t get re-elected.

But that’s only half of the job.

The problem isn’t just one person. It’s the policies. And Trudeau’s trademark carbon tax is one of his biggest failures. Replacing the PM while keeping the carbon tax is like switching the blackjack dealer while still facing a stacked deck.
And the Liberal caucus knows this.

Those Liberal MPs have been yelled at by their constituents about the carbon tax for years.

Hardworking people have been telling these MPs they can’t afford the carbon tax, and it’s unfair to be punished for driving to work, heating homes or buying food.

Those MPs have seen their constituents’ heating bills, the costs of their commutes and the invoices for their businesses.

They know the carbon tax adds about $13 to the cost of filling a minivan and about $20 extra to fill a pickup…at this point. They know the carbon tax will cost long-haul truckers about $2 billion in 2025, and they know it will cost farmers $1 billion during the next five years.

They know Canada misses its emissions targets, even with the carbon tax.

And here’s the big one: These MP’s know the carbon tax is getting hiked again

The timeline has to be terrifying for Liberals seeking re-election.

The House of Commons reconvenes on March 24.

The government presents its throne speech and immediately starts facing confidence votes, with all opposition parties promising to vote against the government.

(Eyes are on you Jagmeet!!!)

Then, on April 1, the government raises the carbon tax again.

Imagine door knocking after losing a confidence vote and raising the carbon tax.

Imagine being an MP from southern Ontario, and a greenhouse tomato grower walks into your office with a chart showing his carbon tax costs.

Imagine trying to tell that farmer that she “gets more back” than she pays in the carbon tax.

Picture being an MP from Halifax and telling your constituents they need to buy an electric heat pump as their sole source of winter warmth before the carbon tax slaps them again.

Nova Scotia has charming weather events such as ice fog which seeps into a house like a ghost from a Dickens novel. So, most Maritime folks still need a furnace, and Trudeau’s carbon tax punishes them.

These MPs have all been hollered at by their constituents, who have been wounded by the carbon tax.

No matter how much the MPs may have pleaded with Trudeau behind closed doors, he kept the carbon tax and forced his MPs to defend it.

Trudeau tied this millstone to the necks of his MPs and didn’t care how much it ground them down.

But he’s leaving now.

And these Liberal MPs have the opportunity to cut the rope and free themselves from Trudeau’s carbon tax.

The Liberal caucus is holding an emergency meeting on Parliament Hill on Wednesday, and those members of Parliament need to demand an end to carbon tax then and there.

Why should they force Canadians to keep muttering profanities when they fill up their cars or pay the carbon tax charges on their heating bills?

Why should Liberal MPs face day after day of berating phone calls from constituents who don’t buy PMO talking points about the carbon tax?

The least they can do is spare Canadians the cost of the carbon tax right now and try to do the right thing in the end.

The federal Liberals are turning on the carbon tax faster than Vin Diesel making a corner in Fast and Furious. But Canadians need to know who’s in the driver’s seat and where they are going.

Liberal leadership candidates must declare their positions on the carbon tax. If they say they’ll keep it, they are no different than Prime Minister Justin Trudeau. If they say they’d scrap it, they need to prove it by getting rid of it as soon as they are chosen as leader of the party.
The new Liberal leader would have a different last name and they might not wear fancy socks, but if they want to keep punishing Canadians with the carbon tax, they would be the same as Trudeau. On April 1, the Liberal government is hiking the carbon tax.

Pretty much , but if they are against the tax they must explain why they supported it for so long .

I don't think I could trust anybody that has been in TrueDope's cabinet, or been a trusted advisor to TrueDope if they say anything other than status quo and if they say that, I can trust them to be just as screwed up as TrueDope.

They could try the defense that Trump's cabinet used. . . "I was trying to limit the damage he'd do."

Now, Liberal federal Environment Minister Steven Guilbeault admits the consumer carbon tax “has become very unpopular” and that maybe, just maybe, the government could replace it with something else.
1737463580208.jpeg
Replaced, not eliminated or cut.
1737463221891.jpeg
There’s about 100 different measures that we have deployed to fight climate change in Canada and the consumer carbon-pricing element is an important element, but its not the only one,” Guilbeault said Monday.
Ten provinces and territories are subject to the federal carbon tax regime, and Guilbeault is the Trudeau government’s chief proponent of the measure.

Former finance minister Chrystia Freeland, former Bank of Canada governor Mark Carney and government House leader Karina Gould, all running for leader, have all said recently they are open to scrapping (?) the consumer carbon tax.

Canadians want the carbon tax gone.

All Liberal leadership candidates should push the government to scrap the carbon tax immediately.

Carney needs to understand that anyone who wants to be a credible candidate for prime minister needs a crystal-clear answer to this question: Will you scrap the carbon tax?

Mark Carney is running on his track record as a central banker who has dealt with economic crises. But his response to the most important question on the cost of living — the carbon tax — amounted to little more than a vague notion that he was working on a replacement scheme.

Karina Gould, the former Trudeau government house leader, made her position on the carbon tax known as well. Gould said she would keep the carbon tax in place but “cancel the increase to the price on pollution ahead of April 1.” ???

Gould seems to think Canadians can afford those carbon tax costs just fine. But at least Gould realizes that hiking the carbon tax on April 1 is a bad idea, especially because that could happen during the first week of an election.

The carbon tax will cost average families up to $440 extra to heat their homes this year and about $13 extra every time they fill up their minivans. Even after the rebates, the carbon tax still costs average families up to $399, according to the parliamentary budget officer.

And here’s the problem for Gould: Canadians don’t want half-measures. The federal government tried that when it announced a carbon tax exemption for home heating oil to save taxpayers in Atlantic Canada money. Screw the rest ‘cuz they probably wouldn’t vote Liberal anyway.
1737548863368.jpegHow did that work out? Liberals faced a huge backlash over the political move…but it exposed the carbon tax for the political tool that it is.
Chrystia Freeland hinted that her issue with the carbon tax is that it is “consumer-facing” and visible to people who pay the bills. Is Freeland’s only issue with the carbon tax is that Canadians see the cost every time they go to the gas pumps or pay for their home heating? So is she advocating for something less open and transparent?

Pierre Poilievre, who is not running to be the next leader of the Liberal Party, has been clear he would “axe the tax.”

Under the Libs, the carbon tax is still going to happen, they'll simply call it by another name.

Note the said scraping the consumer carbon scam tax. What the liberal financed media glossed over is the fact that thye plan to keep the carbon scam tax on big polluters. Gas and oil producers. Presumably, not cement plants in Quebec. This means the tax will be hidden in the cost of everything we buy. O7G producers are not going to absorb this massive production cost. Meanwhile, the low information voters will think there is no more carbon scam tax and evil O&G companies are screwing the consumer. WIN WIN for the radical left.
