That that is what you see, is more telling about you - mirror image and all. Your understanding of psychology is rather lame."The world is doomed and I'm the only one who sees it so I'll rage" is not a broad view.
I gravitated toward native spirituality simple because it made more sense in that situation. But I also had time to study many other religious ans spiritual paths from around the world, so my personal views are much broader than any single point of view.
To be fair, it's a struggle getting to and from work alive each day....weekends doing the running around I'm surprised I've survived...and not killed anyone...
Although I did run over a guy at Costco the other day...well his foot...with my cart. But he backed up weirdly and so basically his foot went under my cart...really his fault. I thought he was going to cry.
yeah, but considering how many people of our times can't walk further then a block without needing a nap or oxygen....
Getting to and from work is hardly a struggle these days. We joke and laugh about it but come on. The Pre Colombian days, Colonial Era, etc. were a struggle from day to day for the average person just to survive.
But that doesn't make the people of those days stronger and hardier. They were actually weaker, had poorer diets, etc. They were people of their time.
And if one of those kick butt apocalypses happen people would survive.
“Among all my patients ... over thirty five ... there has not been one whose problem in the last resort was not that of finding a religious outlook on life. It is safe to say that every one of them fell ill because he lost (it)...and none of them has really been healed who did not regain his religious outlook. This of course has nothing whatever to do with a particular creed or membership of a church. “ Carl JungMy ex was a heroin addict. He spent 20 years in and out of juvie and prison. It was his last stint in where he was invited to a healing ceremony in the rez. After the healing ceremony he was invited to learn carving.
After he finished his sentence, he continued to draw, and carve. He has now been out of jail for over 5yrs working full time and tattooing part time. I do not think he would have been able to kick the habits of a lifetime without the understanding, acceptance and councelling of the prison rez.
Eagle, I invite you to drive in Vancouver...or better yet Richmond.
But seriously, I know what you're saying.
Why were they hardier?
I drive in Boston... that should be enough said.
Speak for yourself, old man.Possibly for two main reasons- first the weak got eliminated in the first year or two of life and second living required much more physical activity. We live more years now but dependent on more people and generally become a bigger pain in the A$$ to people, we need more pills, more elevators and wheel chair ramps and a whole crew delivering meals on wheels etc. We are alive in the clinical sense but for all intents and purposes "dead from the A$$hole both ways". Our final ten years will likely be spent being propped up playing bingo games with a network of wires, hoses and tubes.

CLiffy - I thought you were living in the forest now. Did you return to the concrete jungle?Adversity builds character and strength of spirit. We may live longer lives but I think they lived fuller lives. When I lived in the forest, I didn't spend 1/4 the time to maintain my needs that I do in "civilization". I was never sick, I had ten times more energy.

JLM,
You're a real ray of sunshine.
Abundances of food is our biggest blessing.
Speak for yourself, old man.Me, I'm going out in a blaze of glory: either on my motorcycle or in the saddle of some hot Latino chickita. I haven't given the powers that be any other options.
Eagle, I invite you to drive in Vancouver...or better yet Richmond.
But seriously, I know what you're saying.
Abundance of food gives you more free time, energy, a stronger immune system and more intelligence. Eating too much is a matter of self control.Yeah, I try to maintain a healthy outlook!
Yep, eating it is our main downfall! -

What am I? Three years older than you?
I've driven a fair amount in Richmond over the years! Got tired of dodging those damn rickshaws! -![]()
We just have more stuff and conveniences.
