Well since it's a junmp of faith to believe in almost anything, and that of orginized religion being one of the biggest and blindist leaps of faith. I'll just end my time in this thread with the definition of faith.

faith (fāth)
n.
Confident belief in the truth, value, or trustworthiness of a person, idea, or thing.
Belief that does not rest on logical proof or material evidence. See synonyms at belief, trust.
Loyalty to a person or thing; allegiance: keeping faith with one's supporters.
often Faith Christianity. The theological virtue defined as secure belief in God and a trusting acceptance of God's will.
The body of dogma of a religion: the Muslim faith.
A set of principles or beliefs.

I think in the end all I can do is read the bibles and chose as a person on this earth what I think is write morally and what is wrong. All of these bibles were writen by man, and all show the time they were made in there culturial tendancies.

I would like to hear less. Or better yet, nothing.

Uncle

That just shows that you are an intolerent person there unclepercy.

I would like to learn more about Islam, because I find it totally interesting, even though I will remain a Heathen.

No, Jersay. It simply says I am not interested in that subject.
Are you interested in finger painting? Well, there you go. Don't read more into the argument than exists. I am entitled NOT to be interested in Islamic teachings. And for that, I am not automatically intolerant. That's a leap of illogical.

I didn't intend to offend you, unclepercy; I apologize if I was misconstrued as doing so. I only meant to suggest that perhaps you had meant to express your sentiment in such a way so as to express the idea of non-interest in the topic, while simultaneously maintaining the idea of respect toward others' faiths.

Forgive me Dex, but after 30 years of knocking and seeking the door isn't opening for you? I'm having a hard time believing your knocking on the right door, or actually seeking to find. I think your seeking to not find, and to discredit.

Know what I mean?

Yeah, I know what you mean. Nothing to forgive though. I concede there's sometimes an element of seeking to discredit in my thinking, but I generally try to avoid that, and stop it when I notice I'm doing it. Part of what troubles me is really that I'm an apostate. I used to believe, but in my late teens began to encounter ideas and claims from believers that kept making me think, "Wait a minute, that doesn't make sense." By the time I'd finished my Bachelor's degree my apostasy was complete. So what did I have before that I don't have now? I don't know.

Salam!

I'm Catholic but respect Islam. We need peace and reconciliation in this troubled world. Invading foreign countries is not the solution to these troubles. Tact and diplomacy is ideal.

Yeah I could say that Christians have committed genocide against the indigenous people of North and South America. It has a terrible track record on womens rights until 1920s. It created the culture that surrounded the holocaust and probably participated in it since the NAZIs were christian.

Enough said about Christianity.

It is just as bad.

Even the muslims living in the West in our
more free-wheeling society know more of the
differences between the two cultures TODAY than you
do, Jersay.

Muslims are very aware of what is allowed to be
said and what will get you killed in Islam lands.

And women got a better chance over here
than over there.

Equivalency is there if you compare two different
epochs in history.

When you look at history, a hundred years, not even that is a short peroid of time.

Some comments can get you killed over here too, if you tick off the government in South America or the corporations you seem to disappear.

But their are differences, but there is also good parts about Islam which is interesting and should be brought out. Putting it down as this and this and this, is not helping.

You know with all you right-wing people and your comments on Muslim people and their anger at the cartoons, not only in the ME but in the Western world, because it is a direct attack on their religion, no matter if they see that in America or Europe or other places allows them more freedom than in the Middle East.

They are offended too, but with this outrage about Islam and the cartoons, I'm just not surprised.
