What happens when you load your own and you miss the powder cycle, what you get is a "pop" instead of a "Bang" and if you are really lucky the bullet will make it through the barrel...
If not you have to wait 10 seconds in case it's a bad primer instead of no powder,( a bad primer, the thing could possibly go off as you are ejecting it, which is why you wait 10 seconds) then eject the cartridge and if the projectile isn't there, check to make sure it's not stuck in the barrel, before shooting again.
How about a musket that shoots packages of jacks from the kiddies game? Today you could put a proximity fuse in a tennis ball full of napalm or some other nasty stuff.I don't need a lot of bullets.
