Quite frankly I am appalled that sitting members of our party stooped so low as to start the unfounded and quickly debunked rumor about Andrew in order to put even more pressure on him to resign. It was dishonorable and does not speak well for those involved.

It says much for Andrew that instead of stepping down as Leader of the Opposition causing yet another problem for the party, he chose to stay until a new leader is elected. I'm sure he will have a much better time in the HOC now that all those knives have been put away.

It's a well known fact that if you lose an election you were expected to win you will fall on a sword usually in your concession speech. When Iggy lost, I don't think he immediately resigned but was quietly visited by the Liberal henchmen the next day and then suddenly resigned. I suspect Sheer has been dodging the henchmen since his loss. Those that don't resign immediately probably find a different side of the people they have been working with the next day.

Good points, IRBS. I can understand that some in the party would be in a hurry to see Andrew go but to go the route they did was just plain nasty. I'm sure Andrew made up his mind once he realized they were going to involve his family and the school that his kids attend - all by the way signed off by party officials. All above board.

In spite of that, some members are still questioning the use of the funds and Lisa Raitt is among them.

The provincial party did that to Patrick Brown. Those 'charges' never amounted to anything. The Liberals keep their daggers hidden. Actually a slightly more civil approach but I think they are more vicious. The transition from Stephan Dion to Iggy for example was quite vicious. Politics is pretty ugly all around. When you see the type of people you have to deal with as a politician one stops wondering why decent candidates don't run.

Kim Campbell not only refused to resign after the pummeling the old Progressive Conservatives took in 1993, but actually announced she was staying on as leader, at her next public appearance. It didn't go over too well.

In that case, it really wasn't her fault. That election was an indictment on general unhappiness with the Great Muldune who had the good sense to quit while he was ahead. But I guess the other sitting MP must have been quite upset at her.

Not everyone who loses their first election as leader resigns, many win the very next election.

Thank you, Brad. Yet another sterling endorsement for Rona.

Brad Wall not interested in Conservative party leadership, hopes Rona Ambrose is

REGINA — Former Saskatchewan premier Brad Wall says while he’s not interested in running for the federal Conservative party leadership, he knows someone who should.

Wall said Friday he’s honoured people are thinking of him, but he’s finished with elected politics and is enjoying life in the private sector.

But he could possibly become involved if the right candidate came along, he added.

Wall said he hopes former interim leader Rona Ambrose enters the race.

Hers is one of the names being tossed around in Conservative circles as a possible replacement for Andrew Scheer, who announced on Thursday that he would resign once a new leader is chosen.

Wall said Ambrose was able to unite the Conservatives when former prime minister Stephen Harper quit after the party’s 2015 election defeat and during the subsequent leadership race to replace him.

He also suggested she would concentrate the party’s attention elsewhere.

“The party wouldn’t be focused on the social conservative issues. She takes a different stand on some of them,” Wall said Friday.

“We’d be back to economic issues.”

Ambrose recently shared on social media that she’s proud to have been the first Conservative leader to march in a Pride parade. She said it’s time to show support to all families.

Scheer was dogged with questions throughout the fall federal election campaign and afterwards about his personal stance on same-sex marriage and abortion.

Wall said he feels the spotlight on social conservative issues hurt the party’s results and it became clear after election night it wasn’t going away.

“For me, that’s when I thought, well, I’m not sure that the party will ever be able to get back to its strength — which is economic issues — with Andrew’s leadership.”

He also suggested that Ambrose being from Alberta would be helpful given western alienation sentiments being voiced in that province and Saskatchewan.

Wall acknowledged some in the party may feel there’s a need to move away from western Canadian leaders after Scheer and Harper, but he disagrees, especially with some pushing for the formation of a federal “Wexit” separatist party.

“It should be on the list somewhere that there is an ability in the new leader to understand what’s going on in the West, the sense of alienation that’s here, and to bring those folks together, and also limit the ability of some new party to damage the chances for the Conservatives in the next election.”

Uh.........STB............Raitt has publicly stated she will NOT be in the running for the leadership. As for Pierre Poilievre, he's not said a word either way yet. Chong did say he might be interested...........but I believe that support is growing for Rona to take over the reigns of our party.

Heard this during his interview with Gormley this morning. The other name that I'm hearing a lot of positive endorsement for is Erin O'Toole.

A Not-So-Brief History of Racism From Andrew Scheer’s Conservative Party

The Conservatives under Scheer have a history of embracing racism to further their political agenda.

Recently Conservatives have made news coverage for racist and dog whistle attacks to further their political agenda. But this isn’t a one-time thing. Under Andrew Scheer, the Conservatives have a history of using racism and aligning themselves with far-right groups to further their agenda.
Here’s a list of the many times Andrew Scheer and his Conservatives embraced racism or were connected to racist groups.
MP Michael Cooper allegedly calls Islam ‘goat herder culture’ in 2008 law class discussion – June 18, 2019

Lawyers who attended class with Cooper claimed that during one intense discussion, he claimed Canada’s “Judeo-Christian values” weren’t compatible with “goat herder cultures.”
The lawyers allege the comments were made during a heated discussion in a seminar on multiculturalism and the minority rights section of the Charter of Rights and Freedoms, with Cooper arguing that some cultures were incompatible with Canada’s “Judeo-Christian values.”

Keeping grasping at those straw-dogs, Cliffy. There have been members of all parties in the HOC accused of various racist or sexist comments..........I don't see you them condemning their party(s) outright........confirmation bias is such a fine thing./s

If the guy said Islam is a goat herder culture in 2008 , that wasn’t under Scheer’s leadership .

And what is the problem with that statement? Does the truth hurt ?
