What Russians? There were no Russians at the time so how the **** did the Mongols whip the Russians?. There was Kievan Rus and Muscovites. Batu Khan allied with the Muscovites who attacked the Kievan Rus. Without that alliance they never would have taken Kiev after Genghis failed on his own.

First he attacked the Muscovites who got help from Khan to take over the Kievan Rus (Russians). The Muscovites inserted their own Prince and moved him to Moscow from Kiev.

Moving the goal post I see. The Mongols conquered Russia...you said they didn't, I said they did... the link you provided proved my point. It doesn't get any clearer. Not just that... they whipped them so soundly that Russia became a vassal state of the Mongols, paid them tribute, and influenced the way they would govern. Outside of humiliating and crushing Six Russian Princes under a dance floor and raping and pillaging at will the Mongols were pretty good Masters to the Russian. The Russians of today owe a lot to the people who destroyed many of their cities, filled their men up with arrows, and made their wives their playthings. As to the latter, you can see the trace of the Mongols in the faces of modern day Russians today.
