That is how things are done in third world countries, JBeee. There is no such thing as a fair trial; our rules of evidence do not apply there. Somebody who would be found not guilty in our system would very likely be found guilty in places like Haiti (based upon the same evidence).

On the other hand, there is the possibility of bribery, or of buying one’s way out, which does not exist in our system. They showed on TV, same thing happened in Chad a while ago. A French citizen was convicted of some crime. But Chad is dependent upon French aid, so the president of Chad pardoned him and sent him back to France.

If Clinton does indeed buy justice here (and we don’t know that for sure), it won’t be any different.

Whether thats the way its done in 3rd world countries or not, are you condoning it?? It doesn't make the states any better than the 3rd world country they are dealing with.

I neither condemn it nor condone it. What I am saying is that when you are in Haiti, you must play the game by their rules, not by your rules.

In that case, those who took it upon themselves to visit that country and commit a crime should be delt with by that countries courts. *for an ex-president to be butting in to persuade otherwise is a farce and a shame.

Ex president butting in is part of the justice process in some countries (witness what happened in North Korea). It is perfectly legitimate for a foreign diplomat to get involved, there is nothing shady or underhanded about it.

If bribery is involved, there is.

A young couple who are friends of our son had been trying to have children for quite a few years finally adopted a baby from the U.S.. We saw the baby for the first time this week end. What shocked the hell out of us was not that the baby was a gorgeous eight month old black baby. It was that the cost was fifty thousand dollars. I can't help feeling that some damn lawyer was on the receiving end of a lot of that money.

Another topic about which you know sweet fa kall.

You're probably one of my brothers - very opinionated, especially on subjects about which he knows little.

And I suppose you want us to believe that you are not opinionated. Could it be that you are suffering from little brother syndrome? If you pay fifty thousand dollars for a baby what the fork else would you call it except a purchase? Did you adopt your last car?:p

Jut how is that $50K split up? If the child was an orphan the 'parents' share would be $0, that is a lot for 'administrative fees' .

That is roughly the going rate a friend of mines is adopting a little girl from Poland and so far it has cost them $45,000. You can adopt minority babies much cheaper.

I've since got a bit more info. A good chunk of that money went to American health care and then a sizable portion went to the lawyers. The adopting parents wanted to be sure the baby was healthy, and they didn't want the birth parents to be able to change their minds.

They are just mad because Anjelina did not put a bid in!
These people in Haitii do not need adoption, they need education, respect, and understanding..
Like I said Sad it took an earthquake to wake up the western world to what has been happening in our own backyard for centuries....
