That's a typo in my post, Ricky...it's supposed to .16%, as you noted, not 1.6%.

Jimmy....most of the loans the US has out were given under the coercive requirements of the World Bank. There are growing questions as to whether such loans are even legal. Even if they are though, the terms have no provision for a demand payment.

The fact remains that the US owes more than it is owed, and that the debt is growing massively every day. It is not sustainable, especially given the tenuous political situation the Bush government has placed the USA in.

Eaglebrain...If Canada were to cut off energy, US industry would stop within a week. Your most industrialized areas are dependent on Canadian oil, natural gas, and electricity. There are plenty of other markets for the oil and gas, and we can use the electricity ourselves. Those are facts, little buddy...not bluster from some jingoistic fool like yourself.

Actually most of our industrialized areas are overseas.

Oh... I forgot we have no oil reserves. Did you forget about those? Face it... you need us much more. Your country would collapse quicker than ours. You would be begging to turn the gas back on.

We buy oil overseas because it is cheaper than producing it ourselves. We have enough gas and water to keep going for a long, long time.

So shut the valves moron and see what happens.

and how about if Canada shuts off the electricity, natural gas, and turns the water taps off...... we'll see how long it takes for the united sl*ts of america to freeze their collective asses off.

How long will it take? It wouldn't even happen, because if we did that it would take them about 1/2 hr to come up here and turn them back on themselves, and they might just decide they do like Canada after all and not leave.

Forget the math. Forget foreign aid. Forget the UN. We are already putting NAFTA and WTO to the test with our lumber and cattle problems.

We here on this continent should start to get along real soon before we go too far down this road.

Eighty five percent of the Canadian economy moves across the Canada-US border. If we continue to put up barriers to this trade, the whole issue will spin out of control and the Canadian economy will go tits up.

Given the USA's predatory trade practices and refusal to recognise the validity of the decisions of sanctioning bodies, I think it's bloody well time to just find new markets, Shamus.

85% is too much dependency on even a good customer. The USA has shown itself to be far less than reasonable. It's time to expand out horizons.
