The problem is Rev the short sighted politicians in Ottawa .They should have seen these problems years ago. What we need is some politicians with some guts and to start promoting canadian goods to canadians. If 10%of the population started buting canadian goods our manufactures could not keep up .People have got to realise that shopping in nothing but wal mart does very little good for canada and a whole lot of good for china

I'm not convinced that they didn't know exactly what they were doing when they signed the original FTA. Look who profits from it...Mulroney and his buddies have made out like bandits. So has Paul Martin, reportedly the driving force behind the Liberals not scrapping NAFTA.

They are short-sighted in that they don't see the very real damage that their policies do to people and the environment or recognize that exponential growth is not indefinitely sustainable. They knew exactly what they were doing when decided to sell this country off to the lowest bidder though.

It would be nice to believe we could do that but location, location, location.

We are not some tiny principality in the middle of Europe with potential customers on every side.

We are, as Trudeau said, a mouse in bed with an elephant. The mouse does not have a whole lot of options if the elephant for no apparant reason, decides to stretch or move around.

Add to that, bad relations between the Bush administration and the Chretien/Martin/Adscam Liberals. Add to that, the bad feeling between left-wing Canadians plus the PQ for the Bush administration and we get a situation where Canada should play its cards close to its chest.

Yeah that's why it's so hard to find anything made in China!

What nobody sees is that Eagle Smack is some poor hick living in Iowa, unemployed, overweight, and suits various other lovely descriptions. You sit at your computer all day and blast Canada, but really, all that says to me, is that Canada is all you have. If it weren't for us, what would you do all day?

Well at least I know my identity is safe.

Let me take a stab at what you are.

Wolfgang is a frustrated wannabee hockey player that lives in the Yukon in a old trapping cabin. He lost his wife to a French Dry Waller that lives on the Canadian/New Hampshire border. He loves quiche and he is saving for a trailer.

Sorry EagleSmack, but there is a bit of humour in this...

I've never enjoyed playing hockey. I live on the Wild West Coast, I'm not the age of majority, so the wife thing gets shot down, I HATE quiche, and I'm actually gunning for a posh downtown apartment....

Ok then. I'm all for humor. I've never been to Iowa and I am not overweight. I've got a killer job and I live on the East Coast in a Blue State. I live in a big city so the "hick" slam doesn't apply.

I'm just dishing it out and responding.

PEI...for now
THEN THEY CAME FOR THE CHILDREN

Without a warrant, NYPD detectives and federal agents burst into the girl's home--no wonder they don't have time to look for Osama!--where they "searched her belongings and confiscated her computer and the essays that she had written as part of a home schooling program," say her family. "One essay concerned suicide...[that] asserted that suicide is against Islamic law." The family is Bangladeshi. They are Muslim. That, coupled with the mere mention of suicide bombing in her essay, was enough to put the fuzz on high alert.

They've gone right off-the-wall crazy down there. Perhaps we should go to the UN and demand regime change because of the gross human rights violations occurring in the United States.

Thats the Bush attitude. Its okay if we commit "human rights violations" and "war crimes" but Hera help you, if you do it. Such hypocrites running America these days, with their so called "moral superiority".
