Catholic ones

So they can receive public funding but are not subject to public rules? Did you know there are a few private catholic schools in Ontario? I can see certain rules not applying to them, but the Separate schools are state-established and so should abide by public rules.

Harper campained on not opening the constitution, so it certainly won't happen at least until after the next election.

But remember too that according to some in this forum, to propose removing discrimination on the basis of religion in the constitution is somehow biggoted against Catholics. I still haven't figured it yet, but apparently so.

The Province can pass it - Then the Canadian Parliament can as happened in NFLD-Labrador.
About SSE in Alberta | The Issue: SSE Across Canada

Newfoundland and Labrador had no public school system when it joined Confederation in 1949. All primary/secondary education was provided by one of a number of denominational school systems. Each system received financial assistance from the Government of Newfoundland and Labrador. In the 1990s the people of Newfoundland and Labrador voted twice to abolish the church-operated system of schools and replace that system with a non-denominational public school system.

Freedom of religion in Canada - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Newfoundland similarly abolished the constitutional requirement for funding for religious-based separate schools in 1998, by a constitutional amendment enacted by the Newfoundland and Labrador Legislative Assembly, the House of Commons and the Senate.[28] Prior to the amendment, Newfoundland and Labrador was required to fund separate schools run by a number of different religious groups.

But the political will has to be there. In the penultimate Ontario provincial election, the Greens and PCs campainged to eliminate this discriminatory practice, while the Liberals actively defended it and the NDp kept their mouths shut. Both the Greens and the PCs paid the price for standing on principle, whereas the Liberals gained a majority by selling discrimination.

Last provincial election, no one wanted to touch it. So first, you need a principled electorate before that can happen.

All the affirmation and legitimization and celebration will not change the fundamental character of homosexuality and its corrosive effects on the individual or on society.

Have no doubt that this has NOTHING to do with 'bullying'. Laws already exist for that under terms of harrasment, terroristic threats, assault or invasion of privacy. All this 'affirmative action' will have no effect on the insidious effects of homosexuality .. which produce the highest rates of clinical depression, isolation, suicide, substance abuse, disease and early death (by decades) of any identifiable demographic.. it is that alien to the true nature of the human person.

For people struggling with these devastating outcomes of homosexuality.. i'd say with 'friends' like the Ontario Government.. who needs enemies.

Those effects are a direct result of bigotry and ignorance toward them. Wipe out the 'isolation' by making families and communities understand them, and gay people live lives indiscernible from anyone else.

Yeah, those deplorable issues in the homosexual demographic you mentioned have nothing to with the self-righteous and evil persecution of them by bigots such as yourself.

So what drives this opinion of yours - Would it be religious based?

If people could be taught to mind their own business by the age of 5 homophobia/bullying wouldn't be an issue.

Wow....just wow..... the ignorance is palpable.

Obviously the majority of people in Ontario do NOT want to change and abolish the public/separate school system. Yet you make it sound like the majority of people want the change and the polititions are unwilling to do the peoples will.

Why is there such a high rate of depression and suicide among the GBLT community? There is because of assholes like you. Bully's like you. Fu cking brainless twats like the ones that chased me around in between classes and after school because they perceived me as being a "faggot". It's not because of their sexual orientation, it's because of the attitudes of far too many narrow minded dick heads like yourself.

I just "love" self righteous "christians" like yourself who takes Christs words of love and twist and turn them into hate!

So what drives this opinion of yours - Would it be religious based?

Considering there are "non religious" that have the same attitude, then blaming it on religion is simplistic.

If people could be taught to mind their own business by the age of 5 homophobia/bullying wouldn't be an issue.

Minding ones own business has nothing to do with it. Not being so closed minded and bigoted is what's needed.

I think you need to accept others for whom they are. Such hateful words make you sound like a bigot.

The T-Shirt I like best say's, "When you're cool, the Sun shines all the time."

Going forward, on this topic that is sensitive to many, I'm curious as to what
the club badges will look like on their school jackets.
