I would have to admit yapping at the mans heels is a bit much, but the man lives extranagently. He can afford to give up some of his creature comforts.

The masses of middle class folk that he preaches to, or the ones directly effected by up and coming GW legislation, don't have that large a margine of flexiblity.

Personally most people don't and can't. People don't make there own cars, they buy them from automakers. The only way to make change is to create awareness and incentive. If the public begins to feel enough is enough the manufacturers will change and they will profit from it. But the public will won't be created by requiring everyone to keep their mouths shut and only read little known articles written by people they don't know.

Abe Lincoln's in-laws apparently owned slaves. If the internet was around back then I'm sure it would be all the news and justification to ignore his message.

But were there lies in his messege, your anology is a kin to Suzuki's oil funding, not Gores lies and sensationalism.

Had Linclon owned slaves, while preaching against them, we would be talking a whole other story.

Gore owns a Zinc mine that is a major polluter, yet he preaches about polluting only the air, makes me want to ask more questions.

I'm willing to and have, change my habits, but what I fear is the legislation of forced habit change and the ramifications it will have on both my lifestyle and my business.

If I were forced to buy all new eco friendly(if there are any) welders, I couldn't. I would be out of business. I'm stretched to my limits. There are real jobs at stake here.

It's the focus of the efferts that keeps my suspisions alive, as Gores mine pollutes the surrounding area, big oil is bears the brunt of his imagination. Why?

I think it's important to note that while Gore's energy use is extravagent, he is using systems set up to offset his energy use. I haven't seen any photocpoied documents about his energy use, I'm willing to accept that he does use a hell of a lot of energy, I think Gore has even admitted that. He said he has state of the art surveilance/security systems on his property. I haven't seen any documents about his spending on the carbon offsets, he says he is spending money on green energy and funding green projects. Sounds like he has embraced the Kyoto mechanisms to offset his energy use, though I can't know how much. Again there is no documents or anything to say how much. There is the Tennessee Research Policy group or whatever their name is, but they don't have any documents. This is what he is a proponent of, saying one can keep a standard of living and still make choices which reduce green house gases. I would love to see him reduce his kw/Hours, and I'm sure he will probably go that much further now that he his energy use has garnered this much attention. As I said, he is using mechanisms which he himself advocates in his own documentary. That doesn't make him a hypocrite, his energy use and influence only make him a target.

If anyone has actually seen these documents which can conclusively say how much energy Gore uses, how much he has spent on green initiatives and what he plans to do in the future, by all means post them here. For now all we're doing is jumping on some media coverage and treating it like Holy Scripture. I like Bear want answers, I want true straight answers. I don't feel I've seen enough to conclusively say anything.

Al Gore preaches about the threat of Global Warming and does nothing to change lifestyle.

Noam Chomsky preaches peace and buys stocks in the weapons industry.

Well he is putting his money where his mouth is. If he didn't own the zinc mine someone else would, and they wouldn't be pressuring anyone for cleaner operation requirements.

Is anyone suggesting you would need to buy eco-friendlier welders that don't exist? What if there were and you could buy them tax free or with some other incentive on your next purchase decision? I don't see Stephen Harper outlawing SUV's but he's taking steps to provide incentive to buyers of eco-friendly autos, and the spin off goes to the makers of those vehicles. It seems rather simple to me. Someone other than Toyota needs to build something better and more responsible, and when they do they will profit from it. The future wave of change is a bonanza to anyone who decides they want to make money from it and step away from the old paradigm.

And Abe Lincoln's wife owned slaves. And Bill O'Reilly sexually harrassed a woman. So lets forget about the abolishment of slavery or the importance of protecting women in the workplace since some who have proposed we come out of the dark ages are still in it. The messenger is the only thing that matters.

This is nonsense.

Al Gore has said he was adding insulation and solar panels to his houses to make them more energy efficient. His family drives hybrid vehicles. That big house was probably built a few years ago in better times. It is not the biggest damn house by any stretch, and we don't know how many people live in the house. There are bigger houses in Nanaimo. There are likely people on this forum who drive full size four door pickups that are among the worst gas burners on the road. Should they be complaining about Gore? At least Gore is doing something to lessen his energy use.

Viewing history with a contemporary eye displays a strong will in revisionism.

We should all ignore the problems of smoking if we find a doctor who does, and God forbid he suggests his patients quit.

Oh Yeah, and if a policeman steals something, it is alright for everyone to steal. If your doctor is overweight, you can put on a few pounds....this is fun....;-)

If that's what he's doing, then I take back what I said.

Mr Gore and Maurice Strong are in league together,a carbon credit bussiness run out of China. They both have a history of eco-bizz, and niether is particularly green or eco-friendly. Gore has been involved in the enviro-movement for a long time but when he was vice-prez he was a very effective
force in the destruction of environmental legislation. Gore has coopted the global warming issue, and is right now making money from the problem. In this case I think it would be correct to shoot the messenger.

It isn't about Gore and his solar panels.

Gore is the front man for the people who see a prize in this movement and as Gore hasn't much to do with himself - he has become their candidate for the push ....

He was a liar as a college student, a senator, a VP and now a paid shill for an international scheme to again rip off those who have fallen for the hysterical "Cry Wolf". Maturation has not changed his philosophy - he follows the green brick road every time - and that's green money not grass and trees.

The George Bush family doesn't fight on the front lines in Afghanistan. Terrorism doesn't exist. The war is over.
