Alberta premier 'prepared to turn off the taps' now that legislation approved

The Alberta government is poised to turn off the taps to British Columbia after approving landmark legislation that could throttle energy exports in defence of the Trans Mountain pipeline expansion.

“If the path forward for the pipeline through B.C. is not settled soon, I am ready and prepared to turn off the taps,” Premier Rachel Notley told a Wednesday news conference, stopping short of outlining how long that would take. “It could happen in 24 hours, it could happen over a much longer period of time.”

The NDP’s cornerstone bill grants the energy minister licensing authority over exporting crude oil, natural gas and refined fuels.

Bill 12 was pushed through hours after federal Finance Minister Bill Morneau promised Ottawa would backstop the $7.4-billion Trans Mountain project if Kinder Morgan Inc. walks away.

Last month, the company set a May 31 deadline to restore shareholder confidence and halted non-essential spending on the expansion.

The federal government is willing to “provide indemnity” to any investors, be they the project’s original architects or otherwise, to ensure the controversial project is able to proceed, Morneau told reporters in Ottawa on Wednesday.

“We are willing to indemnify the Trans Mountain expansion against unnecessary delays that are politically motivated,” he said.

so there you have it.

BC can continue to be victimized by gasoline profiteers or we can say enough is enough. It is time to acknowledge that gasoline is not a practical solution for us.

Constitutionally Horgan is breaking the law.

If our sorry excuse for a Prime Minister had even half of one testicle he would enforce the law. This pipeline is badly needed ASAP. Right now Canada is losing CDN$ 13,OOO,OOO.0O / day in revenues by being forced to sell oil products at a crippling discount to the U.S.

Naturally the U.S is more than happy to take advantage of Canadas incredible stupidity and incompetence.

After all, it isn't as if we need the money for medicare and other social programs (\sarc)

The profiteers are Govts. BC has exceptionally high fuel taxes.

Guess what?

The same level of taxation on a Litre will be collected on the KWh.

The electron profiteers will give no mercy.

That fat fukk wouldn't have pulled this off.

Who might that be?

Guess which climate hero in the photo needs several square km of reforestation to cover jet fuel burned on vacations?

Rachel Notley is sticking up for the workers and industry in her province................an advantage we don't enjoy in British Columbia. Our leader is too busy paying attention to professional protestors and neglecting to put together a plan to help our flood victims who are losing everything.

You live in a city, don't you, Hoid. Ever have any thought to what us rural folks will do if your short-sighted idea came to pass before alternatives were in place? How do you think farmers and ranchers are to operate their equipment? How do you think we are to get to town for necessities without using gas for our cars. How do you think people are supposed to travel between when they don't have a vehicle and needs must use buses? Not a single thought for them you nimby puke.

It is an eye opened to watch an NDP government target the little guy for punishment.

I guess they know their constituency.
