no YOU show me what is open on Christmas day show me the malls....zero
I'm not the one making the claim that it's a law that when breached, fines are levied.

That's you.

Since you were whining about debate and civility earlier, maybe this would be a good time to show us all how it's done, instead of playing games.

you took a stance with zero back up
What stance is that?

what malls are open on christmas day gerry?

YOU have stated you want to make it a LAW that stores can't open on remembrance day. You have stated that making it a stat will mean stores CAN'T open on remembrance day. At this time, there is no law that states a store MUST close on a stat holiday.

If you don't know what the laws are, then just say so and get educated.

they already do, there are holidays which close even in malls...they are fined for opening...Christmas is one such day, if you are deemed to be located in a tourist area other laws apply

Such laws shouldnt exist in my opinion. If businesses want to operate and they have willing employees and customers it should be left up to them. Stat pay would still apply. Thats a big part of why I volunteer to work on holidays. Easy money.

Are those laws still on any books?

They certainly aren't in Ontario.

PEI might. Either that or they were one of the last to scrap them. Im surprised those laws lasted as long as they did. They scrapped the one in Ontario when I was very young but I still vaguely remember it.

I get the easy money for some people...problem is staffing in many establishments if not impossible on Christmas day it is close to it and various other family days

employees refuse to work and then the employer imposed a LOT of pressure to work...because they have to...they can't man 30 stores themselves so they have to force people to work via pressure

THIS is part of what our vets fought for, not for corporations to force people to work and give up family time...it's inhuman.

Did you follow the links there and see all the exemptions?

The law may as well be repealed, lol.

Same first initial, wrong member, calm down now, I know how important the win is to you.

okay, I am done with this with you...you are an idiot

don't post to me, I am not replying to you, you are not worth the finger movement...stick to your circle jerk and those entertained by it

red away you idiot...follow me all over the board embarrassing yourself talking to air

Oh oh, another tantrum.

Geez, you can't even win graciously.

I seriously feel sorry for anyone that is forced to be in your company.

Nice name calling by the way. I can't wait to see you whining about others doing it in the future, lol.

Clearly there are laws that say retail can't open though they aren't nation wide. You are right. CB is wrong. He'll get over it. In fact he must be used to it by now

we'll all get over it...lol

Actually, by the looks of your posts and Cannucks, no, no you won't, lol.

And for the record, and this is funny, malls can be open on stat holidays. The funny part being that malls were what Sal was hung on, lol.

It's already a stat in BC. For those of you against making it a stat nationwide, everything is fine out here. Go ahead and make it a stat. We still have ceremonies. We still learn about it in school. People still wear poppies. It'll be OK.

Growing up in SK I recall the ceremonies being on the 10th in school.
