they are not stats in all provinces...a Stat means everything but essential services is closed...unless you are designated a tourist area in which case you may remain open and be fine free, but you don't have to be even if the mall is open they can not as a mall force the retailer to participate

Boxing Day is a huge shopping day, although less and less so for certain retailers as time moves forward...big ticket items still do well

Ummm, it's funny you should say that, after saying the above. Which of course is nonsense. It isn't an opinion. It's a fact. No body forced the retailer to enter into a contract with a mall that has rules likely outlined in the contract.

yup, and when they make it a stat and all of the malls are closed the two of you will still be wrong on whether or not the stores will be closed or open....there are already days when the malls are closed...I get that the two of you are freedom fighters for the mall owners....that's nice but the malls still are closed on certain days and Remembrance Day will be added to the list

Why do you think they make any holidays stat holidays?

To give everybody a day off. If I saw any evidence that the cenotaphs would fill up and the malls would empty just because it was a stat then I could get behind the idea. As it stands I'd prefer a day off in the summer.

BTW, I almost always go to the cenotaph and lay a wreath as a representative of the fire department. I'm one of the few that gets the day off. It will be a pretty quiet place on Tuesday (which is nothing unusual)....at least a lot quieter than the malls.

In the case of Canada, it was to prove that even though they were effectively independent, they still retained their slavish devotion to the Shiny Hat.
