assuming of course there were ANY excuses for my personal choices made anywhere in this thread or anywhere in this forum for that matter

Sal- We just ain’t civilized over here. In Europe, many countries, malls, etc are not permitted to open on certain days.
Here we are in the rush for 7/24/365.25 shopping access.
The mad rush to the bottom.
What are the positives, few, negatives outweigh the positives, and then the impact on families.

I can't do transactions inside of the bank, what makes them special?

If we close, kids won't be at school.

When did a mall become an essential service?
When did you start hating the freedom of choice so much?

The fact that you use the same excuses for not taking personal responsibility for your choices is not surprising.
Good luck, not even the most clearly explained facts sink in there.

Because the war didn't end in the summer.
You'll have to excuse Cannuck, he's all about the self.

F*ck freedom, get the stupid cops to close the malls and anyone that breaks the laws, gets shot.

It's funny how this thread and the thread on feeding Florida's homeless, don't add up, lol.

and it's coming that 7/24/365.25 for sure

it is a rush to the bottom too for the retailers because staffing is a huge expense and people will still spend approximately the same amount regardless, but now that profit is spread out over a much larger work day which takes more staff, more payroll, scheduling used to suck along with worrying about store security and shrinkage and staff safety

So? If one was to agree that remembrance Day should be all holiday, that doesn't mean we have to have it on November 11th. It started on July 28 so we could use that date instead. In any event it's two separate issues. Whether it should be a holiday, I don't think it should. If it is going to be a holiday, let's move it to the summer

Monsters are still here - from Boko Harm in Nigeria, to ISIL in the ME.
But you missed the main point.
Or choose to overlook it.

No, obviously Y|OU are missing the point, and that is THE MAIN REASON WWI was NOT the war to end all wars as advertised. Read my avatar, you have now joined the ranks of the "usual suspects". Maybe have Bear explain it to you as I don't have the patience or inclination to educate the terminally stupid.

We probably should have the Remembrance Day stat on November 11th because that's Remembrance Day.

Why shouldn't it be a holiday?

...because we've chosen that date. We could very easily chose another date. We have the technology to do that now.

Why shouldn't it be a holiday?

Because most people don't observe it anyway or if they do, it's sharing the picture of a soldier on Facebook. It hasn't been a national holiday up til now and it hasn't died out so I have to ask why it should be a holiday?

Hmmm, I actually agree with that sentiment.

So you just continue to try and force people to think the way you do in regards to remembrance day and don't worry about the fact that you are a HUGE hypocrite and are actually demeaning what these "men" died for.

Why do you think they make any holidays stat holidays? They're usually just to have a day off while tagging some arbitrary meaning to it. We have Labour Day, Family Day and Victoria Day. No one cares about the labour movement (the real day is May 1, anyway). No one makes "family day" particularly family-oriented. No one cares about Queen Victoria. But some holidays have symbolic meanings people actually care about. I support it because I think we should have a stat holiday about once a month and there's a day right in November with symbolic meaning we can promote. And despite your technophobic hysteria about Facebook, people do observe Remembrance Day and although it hasn't died out, it is losing popularity. Maybe the day could have been sustained for the past 100 years because the things it commemorates were still in living memory but as that memory falls away a more official observance might be required.

OK- Hypocrite, yes I can be - Well that is human nature- I stand convicted. And you of course are not a hypocrite, or are you?
What they died for- Are you referring to freedom?
