So what about stem cell research?

I'd read an article about the growing of human embryo's being used to further scientific advancements, what is your opinion on this.

I don't have a problem with stem cell research per se. However, the problem I have is that the vast majority of stem cell research is conducted using the cells of aborted fetuses which I view as murdered children.

As with anything if someone donates their body to science then by all means, but these children haven't been consulted about anything.

If the research used miscarriage fetuses with the permission of the parents, I'm all for it. The difference here is that noone did anything to induce the miscarriage and kill the child. It simply happened.

Re: RE: Abortion

As opposed to what - putting them into the garbage? They might as well be used for science so that their life wasn't/isn't a total waste, per se.

Okay, I arrticulated that horribly but I have a headache...hope you get my point.

SK,

I see abortion as murder and don't want to see the "victims" mistreated anymore than they already are.

To draw an analogy, how you feel if the medical examiners automatically sent remains of the other murder victims directly for scientific research??

Absolutely.

Why would you think I haven't.

The aborted fetus's are different. They have already been treated with such disrespect that I think doing more "tests" with them is going beyond disrespect.

I'm not sure how to say this without sounding inflammatory....so I'm just going to come out with it....

why is there no concern for embryo testing....?

Nonsense. They are useful material that would otherwise go to waste. They are no more special than a corpse from a car accident.

why is there no concern for embryo testing....?

Do you mean for gender, with female embryos being aborted? That can't be regulated by anybody but the doctors in reality. To try to regulate it using government intervention would affect testing for legitimate reasons and would be used as a wedge by the far right to limit access to abortion.

That's part of the problem with the anti-abortionists, they make it very difficult to address sub-issues.
