Twila,

Your right the debate regarding the validity of abortion is not religious.

However, the assertions made in this thread against the religious right that they are a bunch of nosey busy bodies is certainly open to debate.

I've provided alot of information which proves that if anything it is the religious right that are doing most of the caring for the poor and disadvantaged in our country and it is the leftists that are falling short in the charity aspects.

My arguements are not religious but cold hard facts.

Actually I never voted for Murray, tibear. Katz is an idiot though. I hope he's gone soon.

I don't join a lot of clubs, tibear. I've never been much of a joiner.

Are you going to wander back towards the topic soon, or are you exercising your fingers?

Twila has it. Tibear, your argument doesn't make sense. By making abortion legal, we will be protecting the lives of women.

Well that's GREAT!!!!! Let's protect those women who have no problem murdering the next generation, obviously that is FAR more important than protecting the children.

I say make it illegal again, and if a woman is self centered and selfish enough to get a "back alley" abortion then she deserves what she gets.

She obviously didn't care about the life of the child, why should anyone care about her "life".

Confusing "child" and "fetus"?

It is nobody's business but the woman's. Women don't try to control you body, Gerry. Why would you wan't to try to control theirs?

The arguement about what a child wants is illogical. Children want lots of candy and all night tv.

To guess at what one would feel if they were dead is illogical. One feels nothing when one is dead.

I stated early that I believe it is upto the individuals involved to decide. No amount of persuading by any pro-lifer is going to change that for me. By this statement I realize and accept that we all have FREE WILL. As was intended from the start. If not we would not be enjoying this democratic society we live in.

I just LOVE this argument.... equating "wanting candy" and "death". You are such a sweetheart Twila. Since a child feels "nothing" when they are dead.... why stop at pre birth killing. Why don't we make a 30 day...or even a 1 yr. grace period where a "mother" can still kill their child if it turns out it's not what she wanted or expected. That would be better right..... then the child being brought up by a mother that didn't really want him or her...........

It isn't encouraged though, Jay. Maybe I should say that it isn't encouraged by proponents of women having the right to choose.

When you look at those who are opposed to abortion, they are the same people who are opposed to sex education and availability of birth control, especially for minors. Who is encouraging what?

**deleted personal attack**

I am dead set against murdering children( so called abortion) yet I am a firm believer in sex education starting at as early an age as possible. My kids started learning when they were5 - 6 years old. Birth Control was talked about well before puberty. I have supplied my son's with condoms just on the chance they would be "experimenting". But then I am willing to take my responsibilities as a parent serious and NOT expect "scociety" to teach my kids what is important. I didn't and don't rely on the schools to do it for me, so it really doesn't matter when the schools do or don't have "sex ed".

What you are doing is dehumanising to justify the support of the murder of thousands upon thousands of innocent children.

The woman loses control of her "body" the minute she concieves. If she didn't want to get pregnant...easy 100% solution. DON'T HAVE SEX!

If you look at the demographics the group who are against abortion are far more likely to oppose sex education and availability of birth control for teens. They are, as a group, more likely to favour the death penalty.

You might be an exception to that, Gerry. This thread isn't about just you though.

What you are doing is dehumanising to justify the support of the murder of thousands upon thousands of innocent children.

What I'm doing is using proper terminology to keep this from becoming a purely emotional argument, Gerry.

That's exactly right...and we should be able to conduct experiments on them...because they lose all rights to their bodies and they're no better than lab rats from the moment of conception and up until the time they squeeze out their unwanted child...

Well, I'm so happy for you that you can keep emotion out of a discussion on the death of children. You do seem to get quite "emotional" though when discussing Kyoto and the environment..... hmmmmm..... I'm seeing where your priority's are...... Fuck the kids...... clean air is FAR more important.

Actually, Gerry, I have 3 children and 2 step-children...all of whom will be taught that their bodies are their own...and you would do well not to make this personal...

It's all emotion with you, isn't it Gerry? No reason, no science, nobody is allowed to have a different opinion than you. You believe that every sperm is sacred so the rest of us are supposed to believe that too.

Sorry, nobody is forcing you and your wife to have an abortion. Why are you trying to impose your beliefs on others?
