Whose god Beav? Me thinks you are a pagan like me.

Pagan to the bone man.
Ever green. WE will never be exterminated, we are the earth the very clay the whole thing sits on.

Why would I doubt the existence of King John his life is a documented FACT. Complete with his great Seal - NOT signature - on Magna Carta.

You seem to doubt that Jesus Christ - the most famous human being in history - even existed. So I just wondered if you doubted the existence of King John. What about Pontius Pilate, the man who presided over the trial and crucifixion of Christ? Do you doubt he existed, too, or was he real but Christ was just a figment of his and everybody else's imagination?

I'm not asking to "get rid of" anything all I ask is for the FAR more ancient winter celebration to be given back the place Christianity stole.
Christianity didn't "steal" anything. All that's happened is that many modern Christmas customs have been directly influenced by such festivals, including gift-giving and merrymaking from the Roman Saturnalia, greenery, lights, and charity from the Roman New Year, and yule logs and various foods from Germanic feasts

The reason why so much of Christmas has ancient northern European traditions embedded within it is because northern Europe was the last part of the continent to Christianise, so those old ways lasted longer and had a major influence on Christmas there.

I happily celebrate Eid, Diwali and other important religious happenings with friends,
Of course you do. People like you have no objection to festivals like Eid and Diwali. It's only the Christian festivals like Christmas and Easter that you pick on and attack and would like to see "changed" or done away with altogether. You'd never attack any Muslim festival in the same way. That wouldn't be very PC, would it?

I have NO objection to Christmas per se - if faith helps someone live life well then amen to that - respect for something which was sacred LONG before Judaism, Christianity, Islam, Buddhism et al were invented would not go amiss.
Yeah. As usual it's only the Christians who have to show "respect" to other faiths. Never mind that it was paganism which influenced itself upon various aspects of Christmas rather than Christians "stealing" it.

As for you being a pagan, real paganism is long gone. "Paganism" today is mainly a 20th century invention, developed by bearded lefties in the 1950s and 1960s (the type who would vote LibDems today). The amount of times I've heard numpties say things like "I'm a Wiccan. My religion is an ancient one which stretches back through the mists of time." They don't realise that Wicca was only invented in the 20th Century by English civil servant Gerald Gardner.

I have faaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaar too much imagination to vote for them.

Vote Ukip on 7th May. You know it makes sense.

Of South Yorkshire's 14 MPs, 13 of them are Labour and one is LibDem (Sheffield Hallam; Nick Clegg). That's a SHOCKING state of affairs and it's time you put that right on election day.

Oh and it snowed here on Boxing Day so we're now snowed in!

It snowed here too on Boxing Day night. I'm over t'hill in Greater Manchester, almost right next door to you in South Yorkshire. It's bright and sunny with blue skies here and almost all of the snow has melted. It's just a bit of slippery frost here and there. It's like summer, only a bit nippy.

One thing at a time.
I DO "attack" other religions (Islam etc.) when their followers want to drastically change the laws and customs of their host nation!! If you want to live somewhere other than your 'ancestral home' you should do so RESPECTFULLY. As it happens over 90% of those of non-Christian beliefs I've known have been FAR more accommodating of this SINGLE female than most people would believe.
Paganism did NOT die out it simply went underground; thanks to the book commonly known as The Witches Hammer it wasn't prudent to show your non-Christian beliefs (thankfully the Inquisition never took over in England). My own family's background includes Irish Catholicism, English Protestantism, Atheism AND Paganism so I think my genetics alone allow me to comment on all of the above! Yes Alistaire Crowley has much to answer for and what he and his sycophants promulgated is anathema to anyone who follows the Old Ways, and yes, Wicca is a very much a 20th C. re-construction
Why did the Council of Nicenae exclude so much? Let's not forget that in the bible JC is referred to as Mary's FIRST-BORN son and that alone should tell the God-botherers that she had more children - DUR. Apparently he had brothers and they were ALL seen by the Roman rulers as Zionist terrorists (ring any modern-day bells?).
Perhaps what I should have written was that 'IF JC was truly the son of God' becauseTHAT'S the bit I doubt to my core. Why did ALL his male followers desert him? And why can the Christian church NOT accept the importance of women to HIM and, therefore, to 'His' church?

As for the Boxing Day snow we're over 1,000 feet above sea-level so we got more than most!

U.K.I.P. in May? Well yes, if only they could all sing the same song! Oh, and why is it so difficult to contact them WITHOUT committing to being a member?

And what about the winter solstice? Are you one of those who go to Stonehenge every 21st December?

The Bible tells us that Jesus had four brothers: James, Joseph, Simon, and Judas (Matthew 13:55). The Bible also tells us that Jesus had sisters, but they are not named or numbered (Matthew 13:56). In John 7:1-10, His brothers go on to the festival while Jesus stays behind. In Acts 1:14, His brothers and mother are described as praying with the disciples. Galatians 1:19 mentions that James was Jesus’ brother. The most natural conclusion of these passages is to interpret that Jesus had actual blood half-siblings.

Catholics, however, generally believe that these “brothers” were actually Jesus’ cousins.

Apparently he had brothers and they were ALL seen by the Roman rulers as Zionist terrorists

No, they weren't. Zionism only emerged in the late 19th Century in central and eastern Europe.

It is Man, not Woman, who is created in the likeness of God. That's the reason that Jesus was created a Man, not a Woman. Woman was merely created from Adam.

The snow seemed to be worse in over there in enemy territory than it was here. We were lucky.

You know it makes sense. Ukip are the only party who can make this country great again.

Following the mighty and puissant King Arthur Pendragon, no doubt.

I'm actually thinking of going there myself either on summer or winter solstice. They are the only two times of the year in which English Heritage allows you to enter Stonehenge and touch the stones, so it'll be a good opportunity for me to get up close and personal with the ancient monument. Take a few crates of lager and it'll also be a laugh. I'll let the druids do their druiding and I'll just want the sunrise whilst I get rat-arsed.

You know we don't get on, mostly, but heck, I'd join you for that one! Compared to King Arthur Pendraggin', you're the soul of taste and moderation.

I've got taste, but not moderation. Not when it comes to beer or cider, anyway.

So kick Christmas OUT of December, give us back the Solstice and let us Pagans give thanks to THE LADY for the turning of the New Year which came with the lengthening days.

Jesus did not exist...

But THE LADY did!

Unless globull warming starts up soon I suggest summer Solstice.

I don't go to Stonehenge 'cos of the eejits BUT I've been to Maise How now THAT'S some happening!
I reckon we got the greater amount of snow 'cos we're hardy enough to withstand it over here in "God's own county" - whichever one you follow!!
