That's one bunch of terrified conservatives y'all got up there.
I know right?

I mean, looking at the picture, if it was a hug it's the most AWKWARD hug ever; he's not even looking at the guy.

Really it shouldn't bother them until Carney slaps someone on the ass, THEN they can freak out.

(unless he's in a game playing some sport, then, ass slapping the same gender is okay)

(also, I'm wondering if the ones complaining are doing so because the guy looks better in a thong than they would look, or they're embarrassed that they looked at a guy in a thong and liked it?)
Where do you come up with this shit?

What if one of them slaps Carnage on the ass? There is a difference between not being homophobic, and not wanting to be fondled by one.

If Carney objects, he can do something about it, just like anyone else. That you assume that anyone LGBTQIA+ all just want sex, sex, sex shows your obsession, nothing more.

But come on, a little ass slapping isn't a bad thing for them non-gay men, right? I mean, sports teams show us that much!

How well would an ass slap of a female politician be tolerated? I think this would be the expected response in this situation.

Ass slapping women is different than the ass slap of men.

(just for clarity, ass slapping anyone isn't great, especially without permission. This all warranted sarcasm though)

Depends on the context. Outside of a football game, I don't see a distinction. Both are unwanted sexual advances. If it is unacceptable for woman's asses, then it is unacceptable for man's asses.

Mark Carney mocked for hugging man in thong at Vancouver Pride Parade

Prime Minister Mark Carney surprised revellers at Vancouver’s Pride Parade over the weekend.

While his attendance wasn’t announced, Carney was in the city to meet with Vancouver Fraser Port Authority president and CEO Peter Xotta and DP World Canada chief operating officer Joel Werner in the morning for a photo op after visiting the port facility.

The prime minister followed that with a meeting with B.C. Premier David Eby as the U.S. hit Canada with a 35% tariff on goods not compliant with CUSMA on trade, as well as renewed animosity in the long-running softwood lumber dispute.

But he wrapped his visit on the parade route, marching for about a kilometre.

While Carney kept his outfit business-casual — navy suit, blue dress shirt and burgundy sneakers — he did have an orange-pink lesbian flag tucked into his pocket like a makeshift pocket square that served as a symbolic sign of support for the LGBTQ community.

Carney was greeted by loud cheers from parade-goers lining the sidewalks along the route, as he shook hands with the crowd and posed for photos with participants.

But it was one photo of the PM hugging a nearly naked man who had nothing but a pink thong separating him from Canada’s normally buttoned-up leader that caught people’s attention.

The internet went wild for the embrace, with many on social media taking jabs at Carney.

“Elbows down, asses up…. in front of kids. Nice flex,” one person sneered.

Another noted: “Canada has fallen into a sad state,” while another agreed asking, “Wait aren’t we in a trade CRISIS??”

They continued: “Isn’t Carney the expert in dealing with a crisis? Don’t we need a trade deal? Shouldn’t Carney be in DC — negotiating a trade deal??“

At one point, the PM was handed a microphone by a drag queen who thanked him for coming, to which Carney replied saying the parade was “the best of Canada.”

He noted that Pride celebrates diversity in a “very positive way” and represents the “essence of Canada.”

🤦‍♀️

Yes. ANY kind of body contact - sexual or otherwise - done without permission is bad, it's unacceptable, it's a huge line that should not be crossed, regardless of gender.

As my actual original response to Tax said, if Carney was ass slapped, he can react accordingly. But his assumption (ha) that somehow the LGBTQIA+ community is all about sex, sex, sex, all the time (or tangents there of I suppose) is an obsession he needs to get over.

Because homosexuals, and other people, are NOT going around slapping asses, or anything else.

My comment about ass slapping by straight men on sporting teams wasn't really meant to be taken legitimately. That being said, it's not only sporting events I've seen ass slapping by "supposedly" straight men, even though that's where it happens most. Even saw an ass grab done in Congress which got caught on camera. If it's two straight guys, it seems to have the excuse of "Boys will be boys" and it's acceptable. But mention that one is gay and OMG NO!

Again, in reality ANY unwanted contacted should be dealt with appropriately and shouldn't be an acceptable thing.

(I'll remember to leave sarcasm out of replies to you from now on)

Indonesia Islamic court sentences 2 men to public caning over sexual acts
Islamic religious police caught them engaged in what the court deemed were sexual acts: hugging and kissing

Two Indonesian men
Two Indonesian men attend their hearing at a Sharia court in Banda Aceh on August 11, 2025, where they were sentenced to be flogged, each receiving 80 lashes respectively, for having gay sex which is outlawed under local Islamic law.
BANDA ACEH, Indonesia — An Islamic court in Indonesia ’s conservative Aceh province on Monday sentenced two men to public caning, 80 times each, after Islamic religious police caught them engaged in what the court deemed were sexual acts: hugging and kissing.

The trial at the Islamic Shariah District Court in Banda Aceh, the provincial capital, was held behind closed doors. Judges have the authority to limit public access in such a case and open it only for the verdict.

The two men, aged 20 and 21, were arrested in April after residents saw them entering the same bathroom at Taman Sari city park and reported it to police patrolling the area. The police broke into the toilet and caught the men kissing and hugging, which the court considered to be a sexual act.

The lead judge, Rokhmadi M. Hum, said the two college students were “legally and convincingly” proven to have violated Islamic law by committing acts that lead to gay sexual relations. The court didn’t publicly identify the men.

Prosecutors previously sought 85 strokes of the cane for each, but the three-judge panel decided on what they described as lenient punishment because the men were outstanding students who were polite in court, cooperated with authorities and had no previous convictions.

The judges also ordered the time they have served to be deducted from their sentence. It means the number of lashes will be reduced by four as they have been detained for four months.

The prosecutor, Alfian, who like many Indonesians uses only a single name, said he was not satisfied with the lighter sentence. But he said he will not appeal.

Aceh is the only province in Muslim-majority Indonesia allowed to observe a version of Islamic law. It allows up to 100 lashes for morality offenses including gay sex. Caning is also punishment for adultery, gambling, drinking and for women who wear tight clothes and men who skip Friday prayers.

Indonesia’s secular central government granted Aceh the right to implement the law in 2006 as part of a peace deal to end a separatist war. Aceh implemented an expansion in 2015 that extended the law to non-Muslims, who account for about 1% of the province’s population.

Human rights groups have criticized the law, saying it violates international treaties signed by Indonesia protecting the rights of minorities. Indonesia’s national criminal code doesn’t regulate homosexuality.

Monday’s verdict was the fifth time that Aceh has sentenced people to public caning for homosexuality since the Islamic law was implemented.

In February, the same court sentenced two men to public caning up to 85 times for gay sex after neighborhood vigilantes in Banda Aceh suspected them of being gay and broke into their rented room to catch them naked and hugging each other.
