The huge majority (well over 90%) make their decision based on which of those two statements best reflects their mindset, and then categorically refuse to hear anything against their Chosen Leader or for the other one.

Why on earth do we need a two-year election cycle to decide between "Things are OK" and "Everything sucks?"

Of course. The PC lefties aren't attacking christianity directly, they're attacking the fundamental rights of free speech and freedom of religion and freedom of expression by anyone not in a special interest minority group which is much worse.

There were still business taxes and sales taxes. Just no personal income tax. There were also high customs and excise tarriffs which funded a lot of government projects and services. Free trade was the biggest mistake ever made.

I lived by the U.S. border for 10 years and can't say I altogether agree with you, but then I suppose there will be some who say those living by the border don't deserve special privileges.

It isn't the cross-border shoppers that are a problem. I grew up next to the border and got milk and gas all the time. The loss of import tariffs created a big hole in revenue and all the manufacturing jobs going overseas has been greatly detrimental to our economies.

Well, maybe I'm being a little too harsh. It wouldn't be a lie if a body was so massively stupid as to think that income taxes are the only taxes there are. Then it'd just be an imbecile spouting off.
