The TV media has sure been crap in these games. It's almost impossible to know when something is on, or if it's taped/live (yesterday or today). And TSN's website suckls big time. Half of their videos don't work or you have to go on an easter egg hunt to find information.

They call this the social media games, and yes it's been broadcast in a manner fit for Twitter.

Well done to the Canadian Men's 8s.8 Oars seems to be the one event that Canada almost always out performs its expectations. The Men are the defending Gold Medalists, one of several Gold's over the last few Olympics, and little was expected from this team as virtually the entire Crew retired after 2008.

I think success in Olympic Sports has something to do with the national temperament.. and this one seems to fit us to a tee.. a bit below the radar.. but one of the oldest and most prestigious and demanding in the Olympics. That final charge was one of the best moments in the Olympics.. pure pain in motion.

Tomorrow... the Women go head to head against the U.S. Crew.. a team that hasn't lost in 6 years.. and Canada is aiming to exceed expectations there as well. Go Girls!!

As for Michael Phelps.. well. congrats. I actually like the guy.. he's personable and accessible.. and quite down to earth, all this hasn't gone to head. But 19 medals.. 15 golds at this posting.. is SO AMERICAN. I can't imagine a Canadian would even conceive of that as an ambition.. even if it was in any way attainable. I'm sure a lot might like an individual AND relay gold medal.. but 19.. i mean that's so out there into American Lala-Land.

I'm so happy i've got an alternative to NBC, the SCRIPT.. loaded with hyperbole.. and pathos.. and drenched in sentiment and American style self absorbed, over the top chauvinism.. especially when dealing with Michael Phelps or Women's Gymnastics Team.. is beyond suffocating. Plus i actually get to watch things live.

Congrats to Brent Haydon on Bronze in the 100M Free.
Don't worry...it looks like the Chinese will beat the Americans.

Walter, take comfort from the fact that in 1936 Germany won the most medals.

Jesse Owens, bah!
Ye Shewin, bah!

Plus ça change, plus c'est la même chose

The U.S. could win its first ever gold medal in judo in just a few minutes. I'm excited about that. Here's hoping.

And *spoiler alert*...

The U.S. finally got it's first gold in judo. Not only did she win, she pretty much dominated during the entire match.

Canadian Women's Eight Win Silver in Rowing Event

ROCK ON LADIES! GO, CANADA, GO :canada:

Clara Hughes is retiring from Olympic competition and we owe her a debt of gratitude for her outstanding efforts on behalf of our country. Though finishing 5th in her last cycling competition - this in spite of breaking a vertebrae in her back a few months back - Clara will be remembered as an exceptional athlete.

She is the only athlete in history to win multiple medals in both Summer and Winter games winning a total of six in cycling and speed skating.

Thank you Clara. :canada:

The U.S. just won another gold in women's all-around gymnastics.

4 more medal events in swimming today, 4 more chances for U.S. gold.
