And it wasn't a mistake listing US winning both the gold and silver in women's beach volleyball. The gold medal final was two US teams playing against each other.

You hear so much about China. If Canada had a population base of 1.5 billion to develop and choose athletes the medal count for the rest of the world would be maybe one: a bronze to China in ping pong.

Has there ever been an Olympics without questionable referring? It is simply one more reason why I don't watch the games.

can you just imagine over one billion people in canada!!!!! - ughhh, horrid, i'd rather we never
win any olympic medals at all, just participate and have fun than win as much as china has, and
have to endure over one billion population. the thought of it is painfull.

yes, with the population we have, canada does very well.

I wonder how we'd compare with China on a bowl of white rice a day!

what canada 'has' done, not 'hasn't' done is important, the coming and going of athletes from one olympics
to the next will change the number.

for our population we do just fine, and calling it embarrassing is embarrassing, for any of us to sit on our
butts and say we are embarrassed is ridiculous, be proud of the athletes, it is what it is, and the effort is the key, and I see canada improving each
olympics, and vancouver was a big and exciting time for our olympics, and created much more interest,
from athletes as well as government.

we have always done much better in the winter olympics, pretty typical seeing we are a northern country.

nah it's utter embarrassment. you can be content with failure, i won't be.

India's population is just as large, where are they on the medal standings?

we'd certainly get rid of the obese we see on the streets each day, lots of trim slim little people. lol

we certainly differ 'big time' in our vision of failure.

Any way you look at it I'd call Canada's performance an absolute embarrassment in the summer games, but this is typical. Vancouver 2010 was stellar (most golds) but the summer games always seem to be a disappointment for Canada.

You try training for discus when its -30 with 3 feet of snow. Of course we will be better at winter sports. How well did the Jamaican bobsled team do? Why aren't they better? :p

Canada is the reigning Olympic champion in men's individual golf.

George Seymour Lyon - St. Louis - 1904. The last time the game was an Olympic event.

Of the 204 nations competing in the London Olympics.. 76 have won at least one medal. 128 have none.. and many of those have never won a medal in Olympic history.

It was brilliant.. DEFENDING.. on Canada's part, who completely disrupted the powerful French offense's ability to finish.. and scored on maybe the only credible opportunity they had in the game.

BUT..

They stuck with it.. came back from bitter disappointment and kept pressing to victory.

you did us proud girls, congrats.. this bronze has a golden hue.
