Lots , but my local station drops the price in the afternoon and If one fills up at that time some savings are available . 121.4 yesterday P.M. and 149.9 this morning .

We see some pretty big price spikes here as well, but close to 30 cents in a day is crazy

Funniest thing is Horgan cant understand why gas is so much more expensive in BC than everywhere else on his watch.

For, the biggest joke is that guys like Horgan point directly at the retailers or oil companies and act all astonished, but hide the reality of all of the prov and muni taxes that add 30-40% to the base cost.

prov and muni taxes are there whether gas is 1.10 or 1.70

they don't just raise taxes periodically

The HST or GST (depending which province you are in) will increase to a bigger share if gas is higher as they are a percentage of the fixed price (including all taxes -- its a tax on a tax). 13% in Ontario. 5% where only GST is applied.

Taxes do not create or cause the large increases in gas prices

What makes up the pump price
Prices are made up of various components, shown here for Toronto regular unleaded gasoline. The average pump price was 116.9 cents per litre in October 2019. Note: crude oil costs are estimated based on supply from Western Canada.

Component Cost
Crude cost 43.1 ¢/L
Wholesale margin 24.4 ¢/L
Retail margin 6.9 ¢/L
Federal excise tax 10.0 ¢/L
Federal carbon tax 4.4 ¢/L
Ontario tax 14.7 ¢/L
GST/HST 13.4 ¢/L
https://www.ontario.ca/page/motor-fuel-prices

So....approx 42 cents of approx 117 cents per liter.
;)
No...35 % of a cost does not raise the price at all.

Too bad we couldn't burn hoid in these darn vehicles...but Geez!...the stink...you know?

No, but they ensure that the price is always higher than it otherwise would be. Paid about 70cents (US$)/litre when I last visited the states. Think that works out to about 30-40 cents in taxes. Those are always there. The higher the price the more tax (HST/GST).

Also, carbon taxes when raised yearly will increase the price of gas as well. If not carbon tax, presumably the price of carbon scam the province has adopted may cause some fluctuations in price too. And nobody expects the gas stations not to add an extra penny when the government provides an easy excuse.

What we really need is a sticker on the pump outlining how much of the cost is tax and which tax it is (all taxes, all levels). They could also print it on the receipt if this is too dynamic.

ROFLMFAO. Your stupid is showing again. Every time any tax goes up or a new one is forced on us it creates a rise in retail prices for everything. Property tax increases cause an increase in the retail price.

But shouldn't you be overjoyed when there is a spike? It would have the same deterrent effect as a 40 cent carbon tax assuming there is any deterrent effect of a carbon tax of course.
who cares how I feel?

the topic was gas price spiking and it has sweet **** all to do with taxes
