Timmie's opened up earlier this year in down town St Paul. Passed by it a week ago and may stop in some day. Am in no hurry to do so since I drink Gevalia at home and it is quite good.

TONAWANDA, N.Y. — A man set his girlfriend on fire outside a coffee shop in an apparent domestic dispute over child custody and accidentally burned himself in the process, authorities said.
Police in the city of Tonawanda, north of Buffalo, said the man contacted the 25-year-old woman, who works at a Tim Hortons’ shop, and told her to come outside Monday afternoon. He then doused her in flammable liquid and set her on fire.
The 28-year-old boyfriend “was lying in wait” by a trash bin, Police Capt. Fredric Foels told local media. He said police had recently been called to the couple’s house for a custody dispute.
As the man sprayed the woman with the flammable liquid and ignited it, police said he also set himself on fire by accident. Both were taken to a hospital with serious and potentially life-threatening injuries.
Police Tuesday did not identify either person, but relatives of the woman identified her as Jessica Cameron, a mother of three. A GoFundMe page said she was hospitalized in critical condition and will undergo a series of surgeries.
Donations for Cameron’s three young sons were being accepted at the City of Tonawanda Fire Department.
Police say they expect to charge the man with attempted murder.

A toddler was killed after falling into a grease trap outside a Rochester Tim Hortons outlet in a ‘horrible’ accident.
The three-year-old Rochester boy fell through a plastic lid into the trap embedded in the ground, similar to a manhole, according to the Rochester Democrat and Chronicle.
Police were called on Monday around 11 a.m. with a report of a child missing from his mother’s care. Minutes later, horrified witnesses removed the child from the trap and began performing CPR.
The boy was taken to a Rochester hospital but did not survive.
“This is a horrible, unimaginable unspeakable tragedy,” Rochester Police Det. Francis Camp said. “Rest assured that before the Rochester Police Department leaves the scene, this thing (the grease trap) will be secured.”
It isn’t the first time a tragedy of this nature has occurred. In 2017, a three-year-old girl died after falling into a restaurant’s grease trap in Alabama.
A Tim Hortons spokesman said the chain is cooperating with investigators.
“What occurred today was a tragedy and on behalf of the Tim Hortons family, we offer our deepest condolences to the family and friends of the young boy who passed away,” the company said in a statement to the Democrat and Chronicle.

One just as bad was the end-gate on a truck with hot asphalt opened and buried a 15yr old kid. The recovery would have lasted hours. The boy happened to be the Superintendents son and you have to be 16 to work with asphalt as the temp makes it a dangerous good.

“Canada keeps getting the short end of the stick when it comes to the world market. Lego is no exception to that,” he explained.
He’s created an entry to have a Tim Hortons shop made by Lego and then manufactured and sold as a set.
Two years ago, he attempted to do the same by building a TTC subway and managed to get 10,000 votes, but it never went further.

“Lego killed it because it wasn’t broad enough, because Toronto is only one market,” he said. “So I thought of other things that are Canadian that are more than one market. Tim Hortons was the first thing I thought of.”
Chapman submitted the Timmies design last week and as of now, has roughly 500 votes. He needs 1,000 in a month to move on to the next round, but ultimately, 10,000 votes by March 2023 is what will be necessary to have Lego judges evaluate whether the Canuck coffee shop mock-up will become a reality.
“So nerds like me will design something and submit it and if they get enough support, they’ll consider it to become an official set,” he said. “Just because it gets 10,000 votes doesn’t mean they’re going to make it, if there’s licensing issues or practicality.”

His urban Tim Hortons set measures 32 x 32 studs (roughly 10″ x 10″) and reflects an urban setting with apartment units above the shop and is also a nod to all the hard-working restaurant employees who have struggled during the pandemic.
There are a variety of Lego people, ranging from young to old, all equipped with a Tim Hortons mug.

Inside the shop, there are booths set up, colour coded to Timmies brown and red colours, and a serving area full of doughnuts and coffee machines. In total, there are roughly 2,000 pieces that make up the scene.
Chapman, who has a background in graphic design, said he began executing his mock-up about a year ago, near when the pandemic begin.

“I designed it with 3D software first, when you’re designing with real bricks, you have to undo everything, but with digital, you can just pull it out and pop it back in,” he said.

“That was probably 20 or 30 hours. Then I had to source the parts, order them and build it. So the process took about six months. The number one complaint I had when I made the TTC lego train was it was too big, too many parts, too expensive.”
Tim Hortons said it gave Chapman permission to use its logo in his set.
“We love it,” said Mary Lowe, the company’s vice-president of public affairs. “Aaron’s passion and attention to detail in crafting his own Tim Hortons restaurant out of Lego, right down to the Smile Cookie posters and Hero Cups decals on the windows, is awesome.”
“We’re always thrilled to see our guests express their love for Tim Hortons and this is one of the most creative expressions we’ve seen yet,” she added.

Anita Grayson liked her Tim Hortons order just so.
And when a Fort Wayne, Ind., outlet did not perform up to expectations, the 75-year-old grandma flew into a rage, allegedly punching the younger manager and ripping out a chunk of her hair.
But Grayson died thirsty on the iconic donut chain’s floor, according to WRTV. Her daughter later framed the narrative that two young employees had attacked her mom.
Reality was different.
The news station reports that the bitter old bitty raged into the outlet shortly after 8 a.m. on May 13. She was furious with her drive-thru order and proceeded to berate a 17-year-old female worker, allegedly.
CCTV captured the coffee combatant, freaking out, pointing and shouting at the teenager. The 20-year-old shift manager emerged and ordered Grayson out of the store.
But Grayson wasn’t cooling off. When she approached the teenage worker, the manager allegedly touched her.
Not happy with her order
Video showed the elderly woman allegedly pushing the supervisor before proceeding to punch her in the face, hitting the young woman had enough to leave a trail of scratches and knocking the glasses off her face. The old lady wasn’t through and the manager allegedly pushed her back.
The coffee complainer then allegedly shoved her hand in the young woman’s face, unleashing a wild melee.
Cops said: “Ms. Grayson then grabbed the shift lead by the hair and pulled her to the ground and rolled on top of her. The shift lead can be seen swatting at Grayson’s arm as she is being held by her hair.

“Two Tim Hortons employees moved in and attempted to separate them but struggled to get the shift lead’s hair out of Grayson’s hand. During the struggle, Ms. Grayson pulled a chunk of hair from the shift lead’s head, leaving a raw area on the top of her head.”
Once the fight ended, the manager and clerk returned to work while the irate customer sat down and made a phone call, cops said. Ten minutes later, the surly senior lay down on the floor.
Congestive heart failure
By then, officers had responded to a 911 call involving an assault. But when they arrived, Grayson was reportedly unresponsive and efforts by emergency personnel kept her alive long enough to die in hospital.
According to WPTA, Grayson’s daughter Tawnda, revealed that her mother had been wearing a heart monitor and was suffering from congestive heart failure. Now, dollars to donuts, she’s demanding action.
“You should not enter a coffee shop for a coffee and a doughnut and come out ‘unalived.’ That is diabolical,” Tawnda complained to the broadcast outlet.
‘Scare them to death’
“That’s the elderly lady. That’s not how we treat our senior citizens. We be careful with them. We make sure that they’re alright. We don’t jump on them and attack them. And scare them to death.”
The incident triggered a wave of rumours and speculation, forcing cops to release footage of the incident to torpedo what they called “a dangerously false narrative.”
Some clips on social media showed only the fight and Grayson lying on the ground.
While the coroner has not ruled on the cause of death, early findings revealed none of Grayson’s Brewhaha injuries contributed to her death.

“You should not enter a coffee shop for a coffee and a doughnut and come out ‘unalived.’ That is diabolical,” Tawnda complained to the broadcast outlet.
‘Scare them to death’
“That’s the elderly lady. That’s not how we treat our senior citizens. We be careful with them. We make sure that they’re alright. We don’t jump on them and attack them. And scare them to death.”
The incident triggered a wave of rumours and speculation, forcing cops to release footage of the incident to torpedo what they called “a dangerously false narrative.”
Some clips on social media showed only the fight and Grayson lying on the ground.
While the coroner has not ruled on the cause of death, early findings revealed none of Grayson’s Brewhaha injuries contributed to her death.

The cause of death for a 75-year-old woman after a rage-fuelled brawl over a Tim Hortons order has been named as acute exacerbation of congestive heart failure.
On May 13, Anita Grayson entered a Tims in Fort Wayne, Ind., with a gripe she had over her drive-thru order. Police said the irate senior confronted and shouted at a 17-year-old store employee.
A 20-year-old shift manager then intervened, ordering Grayson to leave the store. The woman, however, wasn’t having any of it.
Instead, she headed towards the teen employee, and the supervisor responded by placing her hands against Grayson to block her from reaching the employee.
Grayson then shoved the supervisor backwards and punched her in the face.
The incident, which was captured on surveillance cameras, ended after more Tim Hortons employees separated Grayson and the supervisor. Minutes later, Grayson was lying on the floor, unresponsive.
Emergency personnel transported her to hospital, where she later died.

The Allen County Coroner’s Office stated Grayson died of “acute exacerbation of congestive heart failure in the setting of physical altercation,” per news outlet WANE.
The coroner’s office found that there were “no significant contributory injuries” that led to the woman’s death, WPTA reported.
After Grayson died, police released an edited video of the Tim Hortons altercation. Grayson’s family, however, is pushing for the release of the full video, WPTA reported.
No charges have been laid in connection with the altercation.
The woman’s family set up a GoFundMe to help with funeral and legal costs.

A Tim Hortons employee in Indiana will not face criminal charges in the death of a 75-year-old who died after their “physical altercation.”
Anita Grayson died of acute exacerbation of congestive heart failure nearly three months ago, following the fight with the employee at a Tim Hortons in Fort Wayne, Ind.
“This is a heartbreaking situation for everyone involved and especially for Ms. Grayson’s family,” the Allen County Prosecutor’s Office said in a statement. “We have given this case a fair and thorough review, and evaluated it on the evidence and the law, the same standard we apply to every case that comes before this office.”
The prosecutors’ investigative report outlines the evidence reviewed, including security footage, 911 recordings, dispatch records and witness reports.
What happened that fateful day
On May 13, Grayson ordered food at the drive-thru window before returning about seven minutes later and going into the restaurant to dispute the order, according to officials.
A verbal exchange between Grayson and a 17-year-old employee escalated before the shift manager (Employee 1) intervened and stepped between the pair.
“The confrontation turned physical: Grayson shoved and struck Employee 1, the two fell to the floor and continued struggling and coworkers separated them,” according to the report.
Officers arrived at the scene where Grayson “was evaluated and treated inside the restaurant before being transported to a hospital, where she was later pronounced dead.”
Surveillance footage from inside the restaurant confirmed that Grayson was the first to push and hit the first employee before they both fell and continued to scuffle on the floor, the report stated.

Witness statements were aligned
Witness accounts by four employees and one customer lined up with one another and with the security video.
The manager said in her witness statement that Grayson called her a “little white b****” before attempting to get to the teen employee.
The manager put her hands on Grayson in a bid to stop her from reaching the teen worker before being “forcefully shoved,” Fort Wayne investigators said at the time.
Grayson then struck the manager on the left side of her nose and she tried to retaliate.
The older woman then grabbed the manager’s face, scratched her and knocked off her glasses before yanking her hair and pulling her to the ground.
Two other employees rushed in and tried to pull the pair apart, but Grayson then pulled a clump of hair from the shift manager. She was even seen putting clumps of hair in her bag before being found unresponsive, according to investigators.
The manager had bruising, facial scratches and a substantial area of hair forcibly pulled from her scalp, they said.
After the altercation, the juvenile employee recalled that Grayson appeared to lower herself to the floor in the dining area, according to the prosecutors’ report.
“[Employee 1] was later advised that Grayson had gone to the floor, and said she personally observed Grayson appearing to have what she described as a seizure,” the report detailed. “When coworkers offered water, Grayson told them to leave her alone.”
‘Beyond a reasonable doubt’
Prosecutors refused to file charges as they said the shift manager was defending her colleague.
“Grayson, not Employee 1, escalated the encounter to violence, and did so disproportionately to the minimal contact that preceded it,” the report detailed of the manager putting her hands on the customer’s shoulders.
“Employee 1’s use of force was justified first as defense of a minor coworker and then self-defense, and it did not exceed what the ongoing struggle reasonably called for. Nor does the record establish that any conduct at the restaurant caused Grayson’s death to the degree of certainty the law requires,” officials added.
“Under Indiana law, the State cannot proceed unless it can disprove legal justification beyond a reasonable doubt, and on this record it cannot.”
Grayson’s manner of death was undetermined, Allen County coroners said last month, after concluding the mother of four sustained no significant contributory injuries.
Therefore, the medical examiner could not “say with reasonable medical certainty that the altercation caused her death rather than her preexisting congestive heart failure running its course under stress.”
