“Unlike the previous Canadian Liberal government, which closed the door to LNG exports, Prime Minister Carney’s Liberal government has opened it. If the demand is here and the infrastructure is built, Canada will deliver,” he said in prepared remarks distributed prior to Wednesday’s event at the Canadian Embassy in Berlin. “For our customers, Canadian LNG is an insurance policy against volatility, against coercion and against rising carbon costs.”
View attachment 30794The remarks recalled former prime minister Justin Trudeau‘s widely reported 2022 comment that there had “never been a strong business case” for LNG exports to Europe, which was made during then-chancellor Olaf Scholz’s visit to Canada at the outset of Russia’s invasion of Ukraine.

“This is the most important reform to how Canada builds major projects in decades,” he said. “For investors in this room, that means more certainty that once you commit capital, projects will actually maybe potentially eventually get built. It means Canada is once again open for business.”
I'll believe it when I see it.

This is almost sad and funny at the same time in a pathetic sort of way.
Hodgson did not say which countries were calling, but he acknowledged that it could take some time for Canadian producers to respond.

If we start now, we might have the approval process in place by 2040, then we could start construction and hope that nothing gets vetoed along the way.

An opportunity, come & gone. The current government has de facto cancelled two pipelines and a dozen oil sands and LNG projects, and increase the red tape preventing not only the other others from being approved, but from even being considered.
Poilievre delivered a speech Wednesday in Berlin that alternated between an emphatic promotion of Canadian liquefied natural gas (LNG) and critical mineral exports and a campaign-style series of commitments if he is one day elected prime minister.

Speaking to roughly 50 attendees at an event hosted by the Konrad Adenauer Foundation, the Conservative leader argued that Germany should turn to Canada, a stable ally who believes in the rule of law, for its natural gas and critical mineral imports.
The remarks recalled former prime minister Justin Trudeau‘s widely reported 2022 comment that there had “never been a strong business case” for LNG exports to Europe, which was made during then-chancellor Olaf Scholz’s visit to Canada at the outset of Russia’s invasion of Ukraine.
