Why did you choose the computer that you currently have?

Mine was free, but I got a LOT more than I paid for, it's great having lots of techie buddies who build stuff for fun 8)
Mostly for the features.It does an awful lot of things well and quickly for the most part. But it's temperamental. I use a three computer network at the moment, one is a work horse, one a server and an old junker that I download files to incase of virus or trojan issues with the file.
I like to record movies and so I need plenty of hard drive space. At this point I can record programming like a pvr/dvr for playback when it's convenient. So it is connected to my home theater system. I can also record a movie, edit out any commercials and burn that to disk.
All in all it's a good system, versitile and able to handle most heavy apps. Great for gaming too, though I don't do as much of that anymore.

I've got two vaio notebooks, one a new SR and the other an SZ; a network hard drive which runs on Debian with 1TB, a media server and my PS3. All are networked by my Fritz!Box router.
I chose this setup because it works for me and keeps everything in my place connected!

No idea. It could be the power source is gone, I dunno this stuff very well. I thought I had disconnected everything before I left, but the modem was still plugged in. Lightning maybe?
Computers are like people....you never know what they are going to do!
I haven't turned off mine since it was installed....and if I had, from my experience they are always on stand-by anyways.
A couple years ago my IBM clone cost about 300 dollars for a hundred and fifty gig hard drive, a 2.4 ghertz processor, in a standard box with a standard power supply. To all this I added my existing hard drive and my DVD burner and I've since added a 22" LCD monitor, as well as a wireless keyboard and mouse.. My next major purchase will be a big hard drive...At least 7 or 800 GB...I've started downloading movies.....
My wife and I have been sharing a printer for the last seven years or so.....Right now.HP has a printer/scanner/fax/etc for about $75 bucks....I don't see how I could go wrong...

I built mine because I realized I could get far more performance that way. It was also partly as a challenge to get XP to out perform Apple. A friend said it couldn't be done but I knew it could so I proved it, and got a new toy out of the deal 
I have 4 computers spread out over a gigabit internal network. My main PC is built by me, 3ghz Intel Quad Core, 4GB of RAM, 1TB of storage, 8800GT SLI video cards, 24" monitor, vista 64.... love my toys.
