Will Justin make it big?

Probably. One thing, he's got the name.... secondly, he's got a young look to him that the younger voters might lean towards, kinda like Obama vs. McCain.... the younger generation relates to him a bit better then that other old dust fart. (Not saying it's right, but it seems to be a trend.)

Thirdly, everything in the Liberal camp has been setup perfectly for him to take the lead.... nobody really would care about his experience running the party..... Dion apparently had all this great stuff under his belt and he ruined the whole party to lower popularity nobody has seen since confederation....... frig, they could put a chicken in a suit and it'd be voted as new leader.

I see the Liberals selection one of two people at the moment.... Ignatieff or Justin.

One thing you could say about Trudeau, he had ideas, and he went for it. No namby pamby catering to the polls. He did what he felt was right, and if you didn't agree, well, too bad.

Of course, similar could be said about Mulroney, except that he pandered to the separatists in Quebec too much (in my opinion).

Strong leaders tend to generate strong reactions, so people love him or hate him. I honestly don't think it would have mattered who was in power during the 1970s; our debt would have skyrocketed anyway. People wanted more from their governments, and interest rates went to the moon.

One thing I respect Trudeau for: the state has no business in the bedrooms of the nation.

As for those who talk about oil rigs going to the US, and how they hate the Liberal Party for it, then answer me this: Diefenbaker single handedly destroyed the Canadian aerospace industry, and as a result a huge number of Canadians went to NASA, where they made the space program a success. So how can you vote conservative?

And the Conservative Brian Mulroney continued to spend even more money and he lied about it.

The Liberals found out that the country’s finances true value when they got elected in 1993 and went on to fix it.

We have to remember that it was the Conservative Mulroney that decided to tinker with the west’s coveted National Energy Program because he knew that it was not fair to all Canadians.

All westerners feel that they got Harper in their back pockets and since he is from the west, he will protect the west at all cost.

But in reality Harper is an eastern boy with roots in Ontario

According to the Conservative web site he was born and raised in Toronto http://www.conservative.ca/EN/biography

Usually the Prime Ministers second term in office is the their best because they become more creative and they start to meet the needs of all Canadians not just a few.

In the past Conservative governments always lied about the true state of the finances, I just hope Harper will break that trend and be honest with the Canadian taxpayer.

At least Stephen Harper said a true statement that I can agree with that Canada is the best country in the world.

True, true........which is one of the reasons I joined the Reform Party very early.........which became the Canadian Alliance, which vastly outnumbered the Progressive Conservatives when we united.....the current conservative Party of Canada is NOT Mulrooney's party......considering the majority of it's initial members were people that left the PCs because of Mulrooney........

The Liberals found out that the country’s finances true value when they got elected in 1993 and went on to fix it.

Also true......but it should be noted that as well as the tough cuts Chretien/Martin made, they also had massive revenues the PC's GST and the economic boom from the PC's NAFTA to help them out

Yeah.....Harper has moved the old Reform/CA so far to the middle it is unrecognizeable.....and the Liberals seemed to have moved sharply left...........

And yet, the Conservatives have come out on top, where Reform/CA could never get to, and the Liberals are slipping fast. Gee, I wonder what the moral of that story is.

I am aware of this.... how it this a fly in regards to what I said and what you quoted?

Dion was french, and he sucked.... yet he became leader.

How about Jean? He actually got to be Prime Minister, and for quite sometime I might add.

Being french usually has nothing to do with it..... unless they continually go off about seperation this and seperation that.

No, my point is that the Liberal Party has a tradition: a french leader, then an english leader. Pearson, Trudeau, Turner, Chretien, Martin, Dion, ???? The next leader pretty well has to be english.

Whether one liked or hated Pierre Trudeau, we should give his sons the respect they
deserve as individuals to travel their own road.
They are not clones of him.

Kudos' to you on this statement. If I had any idea what-so-ever as to how to flick one of those
"Greenie" Rep Points at you, you would get one right here and now!

WELL I can't say that I liked or dis liked him .How can you like or dislike a fruitcake .

Hey China I thought you were a civil fellow, cacophony like you calling Pierre Elliott Trudeau a fruit cake makes you look like a total door knob, as well a hypocrite to boot…. You wouldn’t want any one calling you a CHINK correct? Then Shut your trap and understand one thing if you want to be respected, you have to show that you are worthy of respect, otherwise as I said above anything else classifies you as a total door knob………:angryfire:………..Lets be friends here……………..
