Canadians who do shift work report lower levels of satisfaction with their work-life balance, according to a recently released study from Statistics Canada.
While 22.6 per cent of people who worked a regular day reported being dissatisfied with their balance between their work and personal lives, the percentages were higher for people working on shift.
The study is based on 2005 data. In that year, approximately 28 per cent — roughly 4.1 million people — of the 14.6 million employed Canadians worked on something other than a regular day shift.

..........it don't cause I is retarded, er.....retired too

but a long time ago i spent 6 years in a rotating shift gulag chemical plant (yep, thas wha happened to me)..---{fumes, eh}.......and

when on the 12 midnight to 8 am shift, I
didn't sleep for 3 days, then passed out for 12 hours straight, then another 3 sleepless days

I would have ripped the throat out of anyone who looked at me sideways, and I was not in the minority.

It's a mugs game. Don't do it. Just quit and go on welfare. You'll be broke, but happier and sleep at night.

But if you decide not to be a leech on the societal tit, then get a day job....ANY day job.............WalMart even.......Tim Hortons.........Canadian Tire........just do it.

Unless you can sleep during the day, and be human..........then.......go for it........I don't give a ****..........8O

I spent almost 20 years working rotating shifts in group homes etc. The switchovers are harsh - especially when ya short shift from a night shift to a 3:00 pm shift... the worst tho was 48 hour weekend shifts... not for the faint of heart, those shifts.....not to mention trying to maintain a normal lifestyle, family life, social life .....

Circadian desynchronosis, it's a slow killer, did twelve years of it in a factory and another four or five on stinking ships. If you have to do it make sure you get plenty of fresh fruit and sunlight when you can.

Asleep on your feet...............ah, ERECT !!
But, does one still feel like a tired dick?
When the effects wear off does one collapse in a puddle on the floor?
And on and on.........surely someone can add more, and cleverer also.....:

I gotta go take my Viagra so's I can walk (like a popsicle stick) down to the corner for some coffee........been a long night.
