Niki,

You have my vote. Just checked off your name, folded the paper and put it in the ballot box.

Niki,

Like Great Britain's Margaret Thatcher, my vote was on Hillary, and here we need a woman Prime Minister.
Women are better at managing things than men (and more intuitive and intelligent). Personal opinion.

Elizabeth I was a good, as was Maggie Thatcher............oddly, all the old VIking nations (Scandinavia) are, or have been, led by women. Merkel in Germany seems competent.

The problem with women in politics, and I mean why they are under-represented, is simply that they are not as interested as men in the exercise of political power.

IMHO

Careful, Canadians, about Obama.....

Who has threatened the essential free trade deal between the US and Canada.

Who is a big supporter of the ethanol idiocy.

Who has threatened military action against Pakistan.

Who went against the surge (the success of which now allows him to promise to bring troops home)

Who intends to send a large number of those troops to Afghanistan.

Who (unlike McCain) has not acknowledged, nor expressed his appreciation of Canada's role there

Who (unlike McCain) knows nothing about Canada.

Who has said he will expect American allies to contribute a lot more to the fight.

And who commands the (irrelevant) support of 4 out of 5 Canadians.....

Who is now playing the "race card", back-handedly accusing McCain supporters of the very thing they have carefully avoided..........racism.

See today's Globe and Mail.

Never trust cult of personality.

We are 'just' too busy looking after everyday important family interests, raising children,
and not really impressed by people who are looking for attention from others, and saying
anything to get it, the type of politician we have had in our faces over the years, time for a change, I hope.

Things will change, but not for the better. Nothing can be done about it and no-one cares. Too late for that.

The direction the u.s. is going right now, seems to be right down the toilet, people are
losing their homes all over the place, they are in debt so deep it will be many presidents
from now before they will recover, and the outsourcing of jobs is killing the north american wage earner, jobs dissappearing fast, and the oil companies own everybody,
along with the arabs.
The chinese are smiling broadly, as they own the u.s. financially.

Regardless of how the US Presidential election turns out the new President is only a single voice in a system that allows for three Branches of government. What good will a single voice of change do against a whole Congress of do nothings? Corruption is now rampant in the Halls Of Congress. Bonzo would probably provide more entertainment than either of these candidates could.

But, move on, they must, nothing can stop, no one can give up, nothing waits, the
country has to be lead by someone, a president has to be elected, and it will be his
turn to 'show' us, so, SHOW US

Completely agree.

Or who wants to tear up free trade and Gatt. Even if you do not support free trade it is fairly obvious that any "new" treaties negotiated with President Obama would be LESS
beneficial for Canada.

Or who is starting to have speeches that seem less focused on building consensus and more like a lecture.

Or is already changing positions and opinions to reflect the direction of the political winds.

Or who has a smart, highly opinionated wife who may have an as yet unknown political agenda.

Or who would prefer to purchase crude oil fom Venezuela, Saudi Arabia or Iran as versus
Alberta heavy oil.

Is the question: Who would be the best President of the United States, or is it,
which presidential candidate would be most beneficial to Canada ?

It's a tough question.

That question in relation to Canada has been posed in many different ways and received varied answers.
IMPHO (In My Personal Humble Opinion) I just do not care anymore. Consequences be damned.
Turn off the tap.
Shut off the light.
And close the border behind you.
