I find this question very intriguing.
When I read that the surge was working, I felt really good inside.
After all those years of terrible management of war in Iraq, finally, its citizens can have some peace :canada:
Despite of these wonderful feelings I received from the newspapers and the CNN reports (weee), I began to ask myself how can I feel this way when I oppose the war?
It seems that humanity among Liberals and left-wing exists as Right-wing and Conservatives do also, we are all the same. When we hear a poor children receiving a great care for their medical needs, we all feel so good. When we hear a homeless given a home, we all feel good despite of being jealous (). We want better Iraq and Afghanistan.
This is one way to see these wars, freeing a group of people from tyranny such as Saddam Hussein and Talibans. Such is which Bush keep saying, "They enjoy freedom..they are free..they are democratic." George W. Bush is right, his 100% right. They are under democratically elected government and they are free from Saddam. But so what? Will you do that to Saudi Arabia? Egypt? Jordan? Putin?
Bush shouldn't use those words, he should be saying, "I attacked Saddam because I thought it would be easy..but nuts, it certainly isn't"

With hundreds of thousands Iraqi dead, million taken refugee, and billions of civilian damage costs, The return of 2003 Iraqi state under Saddam only seem so far away.

let's start voting.

Bush says his surge is working. But, so far, he has offered no proof to confirm his claim.

As for Yanks who oppose the war, it is the clear majority who do so. And these encompass all political parties and viewpoints.

It seems that there are various reports that suggests the surge is working, for the time being.
Some resource actually suggest it will bring stability..(it says victory too but...we all know there isn't victory in war)

That's what Bush says. But why have the number of casualties increased and refugees increased if there is any truth to that claim??

What the...there are victories in battles.
War never ends as long as there are extremists from Islam willing to fight back against United States. Or are you proclaiming there is victory in "war".

Look at South Korea, WE DIDN'T WIN. We SURVIVED then now have economic power that exceeds N. Korea. But when you look at the history, N. Korea actually did so much better after the war but as always, supply reaches to the point where demand is lower than supply....
But technically, war never ended.
We are under "armistice," technically, a cease-fire.
Why do you think United States army are still stationed in South Korea when they are so stinking rich now?

His surge is working because the shi-ites have run the sunnis out of the country, something like 1 million into Syria and 1 million into Jordan. They're afraid their neighbours are going to kill them.

If you are from South Korea - do you think your people are trained enough now to patrol the DMZ on their own?

The U.S. military has been manning that piece of wasteland for over 50 years....maybe without that added burden we could start some government paid health care for the people woo hoo....

YoungJoonKim? Response?

Don't you think it is time for the US to leave S. Korea so we can start a national health care reform?

Korea - few hundred million per year

Iraq - few hundred million per WEEK!

Which one would buy you some decent healthcare?

American won't leave South Korea.... they have a large vested interest there and the place is relatively stable.

Personally, I don't think they should leave Iraq either. They were complete idiots to start a war there.... and the war has been assinine from the start! (MISSION ACCOMPLISHED)

The USA needs to send in a million troops.... not a "surge" of 20,000. End this thing, you retards! That would mean a draft.... I'm fine with that. Americans should be too... it's their war. If it takes a hundred thousand dead Americans to stabilize the country, so be it. Get on it America... you're supposed to be the most mighty military on earth. We know you can kill a whole bunch of people.... can you win a war?

That line of reasoning comes full circle though. One could argue conversely if America remained isolationist that you could have a comprehensive national health care program, it's all where the priorities lie I guess. I'm not saying either way, as it's not really my place to make criticisms on American policy. I thought you had national healthcare coverage anyways? Maybe not as comprehensive as private insurance provides...

Where did YJK say it was better to live in North Korea? North Korea did a lot better. Resist the temptation to jump to that conclusion. Read and digest. Understand before engaging opinionator - otherwise you're just messing with the message.

That's it! A Draft is what America wants. I would also like to see Canada with a much much tighter border so that Americans can rely on their countrymen to fight in this time of greed. God bless them.

FYI I have read his posts ... and I have read yours. In fact, we have already locked horns over your inability to get beyond one silly point before you jump in. My foot. My mouth. What's it to ya?
