I know it's true, I'v been thinking a lot about god and Jesus lately for some reason, I think must be devine intervention. I was very seriously considering a church career, seeing as how it's relativly easy money. That the bottom should fall out of the field as I was about to embrace the lord is not in the lest suprising to me. I'm a believer. amen:laughing7::laughing7::wave:

EASY money??? I don't think so. Clergy I know work almost constantly for very little money, unless you join the Anglican Church-their clergy seems to do alright. My cousin is a Catholic priest and it is hard, both personally and financially. Maybe it depends on what religion you joined? Funny, the richest church has the poorest clergy???(RC's)

Niether of you have read the bible.

There is no reference to the wedding of Jesus in the bible. Please don't be insulting. I read the Bible daily. If you mean the wedding in Cana, the Bible states He went as a guest with HIs Mother and His Disciples. Jesus did not marry, that is the tradition of the faith and always has been.Lots of Jewish religious leaders of the time remained unmarried, John the Baptist, The Essenses, it was not uncommon in that period.

did any one look at the Jewish rituals of that time. Marriage was two fold back then. First part was the mating. Three months later if the woman was pregnant the ceremony was completed. One of the rituals of the second part of the wedding was the wife anointed the mans feet with her hair. Meaning that she was three months pregnant.
I think this is a hoax set up. In that when they do find another one everyone will say "not again"making the will to believe the find less likely.
When they do prove that Jesus was just a man and nothing else there's still his teaching, the true teachings. Take away the flashy part of this man and you still have something to respect.
I would rather respect a real man for his actions than a "half god" that could do anything.
He was a revolutionary, and what he was intending to do was no wonder why he was persecuted by his own....my 2 cents

Right on, El Barto. He was a scocialist revolutionary, and deserves great respect. But he,s dead.

That,s his wedding. Who's wedding did you think it was. The groom handled the wine at the same affair, and Mary was there, this was Jesus's uncles place. Reading the bible won't educate you about christianity, there are thousands of other works that will.

Not really. According to the CTV report, one supposed expert calculated the odds of this being an insignificant coincidence as 1 in 600, another put it at 1 in 42 million. Hardly compelling. If that tells you anything, it should tell you that we don't have the data to make that calculation with any degree of accuracy, consistency, or confidence. We'd need census data up to modern standards of accuracy, with everybody's name and parentage recorded, and we don't have that. Such probability calculations are futile speculation.

If you engage in a street fight with a huge gorilla at 600 to 1 odds quess what is likely to happen.:laughing7::wave:

I see the good Sanctus is weighing in on the Christ mythology....

Since you're here...

Could you tell me the difference between the ritual of communion and canibalism?

Oh oh, now you've done it, you're going to hell man, have you no thought of you're immortal spark.I causually mentioned last week that in the whole christian construct, there was not an original aspect to be found. There was no comeback as I recall. He will turn the other cheek, and that in itself is not christian.:laughing7::laughing7::wave:

Curiosity

I can't begin to tell you the contempt I hold for all those chocolate easter bunnies that the faithful scamper out to purchase.... Nor the disdain I have for pleas from the enthusiastically ignorant not to prick their balloon of faith....

I don't pay any attention to Easter or Wester or Resucitation....

I wasn't dissing the good Christian for their phobias and delusions, but I can move in that direction if you'd like....

thats silly. obviously jesus lived or else why would so many people have seen him or wrote about him?

You said it girl!!!

Of course he lived....you couldn't make that all up from so many different accounts..as well each and every account is historically accurate in all other details, i.e Cesar's, kings, other documented events.

The silly thing to me is how much play this will get from a discovery of....movie producers??? Like they don't have a big interest in this. After the sucsess of the Da vinci code they are all looking for something to follow. Does anyone remember the James brother of jeasus "bone box" a few years back..another hoax the guy how did that one was charges, But I heard a quote saying these new boxes have the same finish on them....They are hoping not many know that the James box was foud out!!

Woah.. Re-read your history there.

Being a preacher and unmarried is a very new tradition and unrelated to faith. It was done by the Catholic church to prevent shisms as alot of popes kept making their kids the next pope, contrary to how it should be.

You were SUPPOSED to be married. Lots of widowers, few unwed. If I recall only the hermits were unwed, John the Baptist was certainly married as a priest of Aaron. And it would have been a traditional Zadokite wedding and bride.

That it doesnt' give detailed biographies of their spouses because two thousand years later some people may want to know about that rather than the message doesn't mean they don't exist.

The bible doesnt' give one mention of Jesus or any Disciple using the Can that I can find, yet im willing to believe they went to the outhouse the same as anyone else.

Some things don't need mentioning, they are a given, and not applicable to the message.
