Greenland is ‘necessary’ for international security: Donald Trump
Now, I can't stand SkyNews here in Australia as they're as biased as one can get & suck on Trump's arse any chance they get, but this came through my feed and reading this got me thinking about his bluster about Annexing Canada, whichever way he "thinks" he could do that.
Besides possible resources he could steal from Greenland for selfish US greed, from a militarily strategic standpoint, it sounds like Greenland is "crucial" for Trump to try his ludicrous idea of taking over Canada. It's a big country after all. They got the southern border covered, Alaska to the West, and Greenland would cover the East while making it difficult for Commonwealth nations to aid Canada through the Atlantic, while he'd have his buddy Putin cover the North.
As unlikely as it might be, this is all a threat that the Canadian Government needs to take seriously and have contingency plans in place. Canada should be in deep talks with allies to not just protect Greenland but Canadian interest as well. Maybe military force wouldn't happen, but if the US did get a hold of Greenland, they could cut off and squeeze the literal shit out of Canada to force Canada to do their bidding in the long term.
Time for Canada to gear up and cut off their resources now to weaken their military machine before he can get any further, and I would say Canadian allies should do the same. All that military needs a lot of oil after all & they're heavily dependent on imports from allies. The US needs to be choked off and made aware this isn't going to happen.... Now, rather than later when it's too late and in motion.
Again, Trump is usually spitting hot shit from his mouth and maybe nothing will ever happen, but one does not throw this crap out there and threaten one's allies like this and expect no consequence. This talk needs to be taken seriously. Not with more talk but by action.
Greenland is not crucial for international security. It's crucial for US security in gaining the resources they want/need that's right next door.
