Wow, you've got your girlie bits in a bind.

If you ask a person their name, they give it, and you refer to them by it, then there's no issue. What the issue is, for trans people, is people who decide "No, your name isn't that, it's this" and "this" is the name they used to go by before their transition.

Kind'a like someone calling you Bob when your name was Robert; you don't go by Bob, but the other person decided to call you Bob anyway. And you would be AMAZED how many people do get pissed by things like that. I get it a lot registering people to see the emerg Doctor.

Same goes with pronoun use; if someone says that they go by whatever pronoun, it's only respectful to go by that, because you don't know what it should be. Some people care, some don't. And if a person is, say, gender fluid, ace, nonbinary or whatever, they may not have a specific gender, hence the 'they/them'.

That said yeah, when it starts going into xe/xer it's annoying as shit, but whatever, why does it matter?

Just be respectful.

And more people really should do that. If it's an honest mistake - and even I've misgendered a trans person before so it's damned easy, especially if they're in early transition - usually trans people are pretty lenient about it. It's the assholes who misgender on purpose and continually even after asked not to, that are the issue. And frustration.

Again, more people should be like that.

Depends what you mean by jumping through hoops: if it's honest mistakes that when corrected you respect, there shouldn't be issues.

That said, give the trans person a bit of a break because you don't know the last time they encountered someone who 'made a mistake', only that person DIDN'T take it well and got all butthurt, caused issues or maybe even beat the shit out of the person. A trans person getting pissed at mistakes likely is reacting out of a trauma response.

Keep that in mind and you'll be fine.

And yet people don't get that's all that trans people are asking for.

They're asking for the right NOT to be abused.

They're asking for the right NOT to get beat up just because they're trans women in a dress.

They're asking NOT to be kicked out of a place because someone thinks they're a man, when they're not, or a woman, when they're not (though the latter happens less frequently).

They're asking NOT to be fired because they're trans.

They're asking NOT to have housing denied to them for being trans (yes, that is happening).

They're asking just for the right to fucking exist, which people want to deny them (calling for their annihilation, conversion therapy, denial, repression; all that pushes trans people to not exist).

Nah dude.

The Peacock himself.

There can be only one.
Have you ever used a public high capacity "universal washroom" in a major urban environment?

I have. What's the problem? You go in a stall or you belly up to the pisser.

Nobody's looking at your pathetic li'l dick in a public washroom. If they've never seen one, it's about damn time. If they have, ain't nothing special.

Why not? Is this a Breaker Morant hard-man thing?
Frigs sake, making me go look up some guy from a century ago to get the context.

I live in Australia, but I'm not from here, nor a Citizen. Just a lowly Permanent Resident.

Why am I not a Citizen yet? Or even Dual?

Have you seen Australia's voting process before? Not only is voting mandatory (you at least have rock up to the voting area to get your name ticked off the list) or you get a fine, but their voting documents and what you have to fill out is like an old road map you unfold combined with the entire Dewy Decimal System of every political party in existence..... Then have to fill out each party based on preference, top to lowest. If your preferred party doesn't have enough votes, your vote gets tossed to the most popular party winning.

Or something convoluted and dumb like that. It ain't like what I remember in Canada, with 3 or 4 names and putting one X in one circle.

If I ain't got the time and patience to remember someone's pronouns, I sure as crap don't have the time and patience to write an exam to vote where my vote can get tossed towards someone else afterwards.

^ I wish I was making this up. This is legit from the government themselves.

Everyone is asking for those rights.

Again, same rights as everyone else.

Everytime I have there has been a lurker. Not your everyday black guy with an array of colognes and hand lotions looking for tips but fucking creeps and goofs.

You mean those Piss Troughs where every guy pisses in the same urinal at the same time? They're very coming here in Australia. I still think they're weird as hell.
No I mean a public everbody washroom. Like at a beach or stadium.

Can't say I've ever encountered one of those. All the beaches I've been to have either had the Mens/Womens or nothing at all and gotta crap in the poison ivy..... Man, be careful what you use to wipe. That razor grass would have been a better choice. I still sit funny to this day.

Everyone is asking for those rights.

Yep, and they should have it too.

I won't even say it's disproportionate because it depends.

You get a black trans person and they're hit with so many minority issue whammy's it's unreal.

Again, same rights as everyone else.

Yeah, and it's being denied to them kind'a like...

Oh wait, the denial rate is NOT like everyone else.

And when that stuff is being denied, it's a right denied.

Whether it's a trans person, a gay person, a black person, Latino, Asian, etc, etc. Experiencing any of that is a right DENIED.

So what you're saying is it's the same for everyone and denying those things for anyone is bad. Seems to me that's what everyone else is saying...... So, what are you arguing about?

If they're denied rights, take it to the courts like anyone else would. If there is validity in the claim of rights being denied, then proper procedures will unfold and protection of their rights will follow.

If they don't and just decide they'd rather bitch and moan about it online for sympathy instead of doing anything useful about it, well, that sounds like a "them problem."

Yes.

Seems to me that's what everyone else is saying......

Even trans people.

So, what are you arguing about?

Okay...

In the scale of rights denied to people, trans are even more bottom of the list than women, people of other races and disabled.

What SHOULD be happening is a focus on everyone having the same rights.

What's NOT happening is that Trans people are the focus to keep their rights denied to them. Which means they have to fight "louder" for them.

If they're denied rights, take it to the courts like anyone else would.

And they do. But guess what?

Bias' exist even in the courts as seen by recent laws that WEREN'T overturned.

If there is validity in the claim of rights being denied, then proper procedures will unfold and protection of their rights will follow.

You're funny if you think that's true.

If they don't and just decide they'd rather bitch and moan about it online for sympathy instead of doing anything useful about it, well, that sounds like a "them problem."

And sometimes any person - not just trans people - don't have the funds to go to court for this shit, so all they can do is bitch and moan and push to hopefully get the issue out so society votes for people who give rights, not take them.

Ah, yes. . . the ol' "proper channels" harrumph. "Trans people who feel they've been discriminated against should go through PROPER CHANNELS to address their grievances!"

Yeah, like Martin Luther King. And Ethel Cox. And Mohandes Ghandi. And Nelson Mandela. And the honk-honk twucktards.
