Yes, but currently the Federal Liberal Party is at least (if not more so) far left than the NDP. There are still Liberal voters, who would vote for a Liberal Party if it moved way closer to the political center of the spectrum…but it’s not.
At best, if Clark walked away from Ontario provincial politics, she would lead a party that ‘might’ (but probably not) become the official opposition at best. Odds are she wouldn’t beat Doug Ford provincially either, but would she be wise to stay in provincial politics for at least another four years to distance herself further from the current federal liberals (?), & then come along in let’s say 2029 to take a stab at federal politics?
(This way she could avoid the ‘stank’ of immediately following Trudeau in the same role, & let that chair “air out” for a term)
How would someone like Christy Clark (or someone else) bring the Liberal Party back towards the the general neighbourhood of the political center?
