Saw a clip from a med TV show and it got me wondering...
All of you against surgeries that 'change' the 'gender' of minors...
What is your opinion about intersex kids? You know, the kids that are born male but present female/born female but present male?
By your demands and "logic", those kids would not be able to get sex reassignment surgeries as infants, and would have to grow up being forced to either try and deal with the idea that they are a "not normal" person and thus bullied and likely abused until they're "old enough" to "pick a gender".
Or would you actually be one of those "my kid is a .... and that's what I want them to be"? So baby is born, presents as male in all ways except he has a vagina, and now suddenly you're demanding... sex reassignment surgery to make "him" a "real boy"? (thus absolutely destroying your "no surgeries on minors!" arguments)
And let's say you do the latter... but when the kid is older, "he" comes to you and says that his gender isn't male but female. What would be done then? If the kid never knew they were intersexed, would you tell them? Or push denial on them?
Or.
Would you not do any surgery, inform the kid as they grow what intersexed is, and when they get old enough to realize their gender, THEN work for the surgery that fits them?
(Also, realize that: "Being intersex may be evident at birth, childhood, later in adulthood or never. Being intersex isn’t a disorder, disease or condition." --
