Like the majority of Canadians in their understanding of their own governmental system, and the selection process for the leaders of the political parties that will be represented in parliament…(up here we also don’t vote for a specific leader but for a specific party…except that’s theory & not practice for the majority of voters), do most Americans understand or believe or follow what you’re saying?

Are they really voting for either elephant or donkey (?) or are they voting for a specific person that represents elephant or donkey? Are they (the average American voter) going to run with scissors this concept or are they fixed mentally on a Biden vs Trump octogenarian brawl?

The primary election ballots list the names of the candidates, not the delegates, so no, I doubt most Murkans understand exactly how the process works.

This is relevant now because of what I said about the intention to vote for X is not binding. At the Democratic Convention, there's likely to be a big push to get delegates "committed" to Biden to change their votes to somebody else. And, of course, either one of the two could die between now and then. Trump ain't exactly a teenager either.

I still want to what a blackologist is. I hope theyre cool.
A person whom is not of african descent, but deeply embraces black culture. This person is so enfatuated with the culture that they are said to have a degree in the studies of black folk, blackology if you will.

Taylor Swift endorses Kamala Harris for president after debate ends

WASHINGTON — Taylor Swift, one of the music industry’s biggest stars, endorsed Kamala Harris for president shortly after the debate ended on Tuesday night.

“I think she is a steady-handed, gifted leader and I believe we can accomplish so much more in this country if we are led by calm and not chaos,” Swift wrote in an Instagram post, which included a link to a voter registration website.

Swift has a dedicated following among young women, a key demographic in the November election, and her latest tour has generated more than $1 billion in ticket sales. In a half hour, the post received more than 2.3 million likes.

She included a picture of herself holding her cat Benjamin Button, and she signed the message “Childless Cat Lady.” The remark is a reference to three-year-old comments made by JD Vance, Donald Trump’s running mate, about women without children not having an equal stake in the country’s future.

Swift wrote that her endorsement was partially prompted by Trump’s decision to post AI-generated pictures suggesting that she had endorsed him. One showed Swift dressed as Uncle Sam, and the text said “Taylor wants YOU to VOTE for DONALD TRUMP.”

Trump’s posts “brought me to the conclusion that I need to be very transparent about my actual plans for this election as a voter,” Swift wrote. She added that “I’ve done my research, and I’ve made my choice.”

The Trump campaign dismissed Swift’s endorsement.

“This is further evidence that the Democrat Party has unfortunately become a party of the wealthy elites,” said spokesperson Karoline Leavitt.

“There’s many Swifties for Trump out there in America,” she said, herself included.

Swift’s endorsement was not exactly a surprise. In 2020, she supported President Joe Biden, and she cheered for Harris in her debate against then-Vice President Mike Pence. She also was openly critical of Trump, saying he had stoked “the fires of white supremacy and racism.”

Swift is a popular figure nationwide, but especially among Democrats. An October 2023 Fox News poll found that 55% of voters overall, including 68% of Democrats, said they had a favourable view of Swift. Republicans were divided, with 43% having a favourable opinion and 45% an unfavourable one.

AP VoteCast suggests that a partisan divide on Swift was apparent as early as 2018. That’s the year Swift made her first political endorsement, supporting Tennessee Democrat Phil Bredesen for Senate over Republican Marsha Blackburn.

VoteCast found that among Tennessee voters that year, 55% of Democrats and just 19% of Republicans said they had a favourable opinion of Swift. Blackburn won by a comfortable margin in the deep red state.

Trump reacts to Taylor Swift endorsing Kamala Harris: 'She'll pay a price'

Author of the article:Mark Daniell
Published Sep 11, 2024 • Last updated 1 day ago • 4 minute read

Former President Donald Trump has responded to Taylor Swift’s support of Democratic presidential candidate Kamala Harris following their debate Tuesday night.

After their first televised faceoff, Swift posted a photo alongside her cat Benjamin Button and told her 283 million followers on Instagram that she is “voting for Kamala Harris.”

“I think she is a steady-handed, gifted leader and I believe we can accomplish so much more in this country if we are led by calm and not chaos,” Swift wrote late Tuesday her social media post.

Swift said in her message that she was moved to speak out after Trump decided to post AI-generated pictures encouraging her fans to vote for him. One showed Swift dressed as Uncle Sam, and the text said “Taylor wants YOU to VOTE for DONALD TRUMP.”

Another showed women wearing “Swifties for Trump” T-shirts.

The former president’s posts “brought me to the conclusion that I need to be very transparent about my actual plans for this election as a voter,” Swift wrote. The singer, who signed off by calling herself a “Childless Cat Lady,” added that “I’ve done my research, and I’ve made my choice.”

Swift’s “childless cat lady” reference was a dig at past comments made by Trump’s running mate JD Vance, who said during a 2021 interview: “We are effectively run in this country, via the Democrats, via our corporate oligarchs, by a bunch of childless cat ladies who are miserable at their own lives and the choices that they’ve made, and so they want to make the rest of the country miserable, too.”

Swift’s endorsement post racked up over 8.7 million likes by Wednesday morning and was shared over 1.4 million times.

“She is a cultural icon,” California Gov. Gavin Newsom told reporters about Swift after the debate. He warned Trump to disparage Swift’s endorsement “at your own peril.”

“Her speaking out is a big darn deal,” Pennsylvania Gov. Josh Shapiro added. “That’s a huge endorsement.”

But Trump’s campaign team was quick to dismiss Swift’s backing of Harris.

“This is further evidence that the Democrat Party has unfortunately become a party of the wealthy elites,” said spokesperson Karoline Leavitt.

“There’s many Swifties for Trump out there in America,” she added, including herself among them.

On Wednesday, Trump responded to her post during an appearance on Fox & Friends, saying, “I actually like Mrs. (Brittany) Mahomes much better if you want to know the truth. She’s a big Trump fan. I was not a Taylor Swift fan.”

Brittany, who is a friend of Swift’s and the wife of Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes, caused a stir last month when she lashed out at critics suffering “deep rooted issues” as rumours swirled that she had given her stamp of approval to “The 2024 GOP Platform” shared by Trump.

In the former president’s Instagram message, he promised, among other things, to “stop the migrant invasion,” “deport pro-Hamas radicals,” “keep men OUT of women’s sports,” “lock up violent offenders,” “prevent World War III,” and “stop the migrant crime epidemic.”

During his call-in to Fox & Friends, Trump said he wasn’t surprised Swift is backing the Democrats calling her “a very liberal person.”

“It was just a question of time,” he said. “You couldn’t possibly endorse Biden. You look at Biden — you couldn’t endorse him …. She seems to always endorse a Democrat, and she’ll probably pay a price for it … in the marketplace. But no, I liked Brittany.”

Mahomes appeared to fire back at critics with a message of her own after controversy brewed over her apparent “like” of Trump’s social media post last month.

“I mean honestly, to be a hater as an adult, you have to have some deep-rooted issues you refuse to heal from childhood,” a message on the Sports Illustrated Swimsuit model’s Instagram read. “There’s no reason your brain is fully developed and you hate to see others doing well.”

After Swift’s Harris recommendation started making the rounds, conservative talk show host Megyn Kelly said the Cruel Summer singer could “kiss (her) sales to the Republican audience goodbye.”

“Eff you, Taylor Swift,” Kelly said on her SiriusXM podcast.

Kelly also put Swift’s boyfriend, Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce, on blast for his role as a pitchman for Pfizer’s COVID vaccine.

“He’s totally f***ing clueless about the myocarditis taking the lives of young men in this country who didn’t need the shot to begin with, never mind the booster. Where’s Travis Kelce gonna be when these boys wind up with heart scarring that causes heart attacks and potentially death? They will be sitting in their mansions in Rhode Island and California and New York and jetting across the world and saying, ‘Let them eat cake’ … too obsessed with their money and their concerts and their football games to have a thought for those they hurt,” she said.

Meanwhile, Tesla CEO Elon Musk poked fun at Swift rubber stamping Harris with a message on X, the social media platform he owns.

“Fine Taylor… you win… I will give you a child and guard your cats with my life,” the father of 12 tweeted.

Bettors favouring Harris after U.S. presidential debate: Oddsmaker
Money has significantly shifted toward Democratic vice-president, BetOnline.ag says

Author of the article:Jane Stevenson
Published Sep 11, 2024 • 1 minute read

Kamala Harris won Tuesday night’s much-hyped U.S. presidential debate against Donald Trump if you go by election odds.

BetOnline.ag tweeted minutes before Tuesday night’s debate that 50.9% of the money wagered on the election was on Harris, while 49.1% was on Trump. But now the money has significantly shifted toward Harris with 54.4% on the Democratic vice-president.

The website said the election odds had flipped since Tuesday morning at 9 a.m., when Harris was at plus-100 and Trump was at minus-120. As of Tuesday at 11 p.m., Harris was at minus-120 and Trump was at plus-100.

Not helping Trump during the debate was the former Republican president’s much-discussed assertion that immigrants “in Springfield, (Ohio), they’re eating the dogs, the people that came in, they’re eating the cats, they’re eating the pets of the people that live there,” but it sure led to some great memes.

Harris’ reaction?

“Talk about extreme,” said the vice-president with a laugh.

Debate co-moderator David Muir said afterward: “Springfield city manager said there is no evidence of that there.”

The 2024 election odds are subject to change and will be updated in real-time at betonline.ag.
