Commissioner Marie-Josée Hogue is investigating whether China, Russia, India and other nations interfered in the past two elections, and how information about foreign interference flowed within the federal government. The inquiry was launched after media reports accused Beijing of meddling in the 2019 and 2021 federal elections.

Most of the CSIS documents shared Thursday were entirely redacted — blacked-out. One assessment, which was partially redacted, showed that Canada was considered a "high-priority" target for Chinese interference ahead of the 2021 election.

"Intelligence concerning multiple aspects of the People's Republic of China (PRC) foreign interference and malign influence activities are of the utmost importance for the government of Canada because of the scope and impact of this threat," it reads.

"These activities involve immediate threats or grave harm to Canada's strategic interests."

Without knowing who these people are (Chan & Dong) I wouldn't testify either. Are they compromised? Who is to say they aren't connected to the CCP without having an investigation to actually clear them one way or the other.

And that’s the issue the Uyghurs have, or they know that they’re CCP, & if they testify then Ding & Dong have complete access to everything….& the Ex-Pat Uyghurs families back in China….well…they just don’t testify.

This time around, there have been no grand public assurances that the government is committed to providing unprecedented access to information. Rather, we’ve been put on notice that obfuscation and dithering over confidentiality will be used to beat us down.

Some parties, like the Uyghur Rights Advocacy Project, have already indicated they have had enough of the charade. Others, including those like members of Parliament Michael Chong and Jenny Kwan, who were the victims of shocking hostility and ineptitude from the CCP and the government, will likely persist, although it is already clear that they deserve much more information, and much better treatment from the Hogue commission.

It was the 2019 & 2021 Federal Elections that were the catalyst for this inquiry that the majority of Canadians wanted, & the Government went to “heroic” (?) efforts to avoid.
