Amid rising Middle East tensions, the Canadian government is “demanding” a humanitarian aid corridor be opened to Gaza….???

Oh? Or else what?
Trudeau rejected demands that the Liberal government call on Israel to implement a ceasefire on Gaza where its armed forces are bombing Hamas targets and the civilian casualty toll mounts.

Above, I mean, Canada’s reputation on the world stage is so low currently that who are we (we meaning a portion of Canada actually voted for the current government repeatedly) to demand anything from Israel, or Hamas, or Palestine, etc…?

I’m behind, & last I heard Israel had placed Gaza under Siege, conditional upon release of the 200 Hostages abducted from Israel…so maybe Trudeau doesn’t understand the definition of the term? Maybe Hamas has released these hostages?

Trudeau states, “Canada fully supports Israel’s right to defend itself in accordance with international law.

“And in Gaza, as elsewhere, international law, including humanitarian law, must be upheld by all,” Trudeau said….& by all he means Israel.

On Parliament Hill, the New Democratic Party was the only party to call on the Trudeau government to “demand” a ceasefire by Israel as it retaliates against Hamas attacks and prepares a ground assault on Gaza despite an escalating humanitarian crisis in the Palestinian territory….so basically the same party being the Liberal/NDP’ers in their…whatever it is that’s reflected in their Facebook Relationship Status’s…

Over the weekend, at least seven Liberal MPs made statements expressing their concern with the situation in Gaza, with some reiterating NDP calls for a ceasefire and calling on the government to do more as they “accused Israel of violating international laws” in its “response to the Hamas attacks”…but not about the Hamas attacks. Others simply reiterated concern for civilians.
Arguing the focus should be on humanitarian aid, Blanchet (Bloc, Québécois) said Hamas has previously used ceasefires to regroup, and that he doubts whether any peace can be sustainable unless the militant group — which Canada, the U.S., United Kingdom and European Union have labelled a terrorist organization — is “uprooted” from the enclave of 2.3 million people.

“Until Hamas is uprooted from the Gaza Strip, I have doubts about all perspectives of durable and credible peace — and even of sane conversation … about the future of the Palestinian and Israeli people, which still and always passes through the two state solution,” Blanchet said in French… Perhaps the two states being a split of Iran this time into Iran & Palestinian.

A joint statement issued by the White House Monday evening condemning the Hamas attacks on Israel over the weekend includes signatures from five of the leaders of the G7 nations. Absent from the list: Canada and Japan.

The statement, signed by Emmanuel Macron of France, Olaf Scholz of Germany, Joe Biden of the United States, Giorgia Meloni of Italy and Rishi Sunak of the United Kingdom, said “the terrorist actions of Hamas have no justification, no legitimacy and must be universally condemned.”

It raised questions about whether Canada was consulted or asked to sign the statement. Canada’s absence from the list drew swift criticism, although the reasons for its absence have yet to be explained.

Israel said on Sunday it was restarting the supply of water to “parts of the Gaza Strip” after shutting it off following Hamas’s devastating terrorist infiltration on October 7, in which over 1,300 Israelis were killed.

Energy Minister Israel Katz confirmed the news in a statement, saying that water would begin to flow again to the “southern portion” of the narrow enclave — “where Israel has urged residents to flee to in recent days.”

Since Friday, Israel has been urging Gazans to move out of the Strip’s north. The military says it is trying to clear away civilians ahead of a major campaign against Hamas terrorists in the north, where they have extensive networks of tunnels and bunkers. Hamas urged people to stay in their homes and, per the military, has been hindering movement south with roadblocks.
Jerusalem will allow food, water and medicine into Gaza after imposing a siege on the enclave, as it appears to be gearing up for a ground operation aimed at destroying Hamas.

(Last week, Israel had vowed to not turn on any water or electricity to Gaza until the estimated 150-200 hostages being held by Hamas and Islamic Jihad have been freed…& thus my confusion above)

"It is critical that aid begins flowing into Gaza as soon as possible," Secretary of State Antony Blinken said early Tuesday morning from Israel.

Blinken said the U.S. and Israel share a concern that Hamas may try to seize or destroy any aid entering Gaza.

He issued a warning, "If Hamas, in any way, blocks humanitarian assistance from reaching civilians, including by seizing the aid itself, we'll be the first to condemn it. And we will work to prevent it from happening again." (Again?)

Blinken landed back in Israel on Monday after a visit last week, reiterating U.S. pledges of support for Israel — while also calling for aid and supplies to be allowed to enter Gaza. New rocket attacks briefly sent Blinken into a bunker.

There is a lot of pressure coming from Arab states that have decent relations with Israel to back off on creating an unecessary crisis.

Should Israel Negotiate with Hamas for the release of the 150, or 199, or 200, or 250 (it keeps changing) number of hostages abducted from Israel back on Oct 7/23??

Oh by the way there is a bright side to WW3. Ukraine now has fire control over all the occupied regions.

In reading up on the history pre-1948, 2 things don't surprise me.
  • The UN was as incompetent then as it is now.
  • The British were involved and likely laid the ground work for the mess.

The Israel-Jordan split was solely the work of the Brits.

The UN is incompetent because it was designed to be incompetent. The General Assembly is a talking shop with no powers. Only the Security Council has any real power, and it's pretty much guaranteed permanent deadlock.

Palestine dates back to Roman times. The Israeli claim predates that biblically for reference. It is what it is though….
Palestine ceased to exist after 1516 when the ottoman's absorbed them into the empire after WWI and the Ottoman's were defeated the British revived Palestine and parceled a piece off to the Jews (Israel) with the blessing of the League of nations later given autonomy to both nations under the UN charter

Machine-gun earrings, terrorist flags — anti-Semitism rampant

There was a shocking display of support for Hamas terrorists in Mississauga by a protester flaunting gold machine-gun earrings.

Sometimes you can’t believe your eyes.

First, there was a shocking display of support for Hamas terrorists in Mississauga by a protester flaunting gold machine-gun earrings.

Then came the arrival of a pickup truck with occupants flying Taliban flags.

Even some condoning the “from the river to the sea, Palestine will be free” chants knew it was too much and asked men in a truck to tuck them away.

While Peel Regional Police said “the protest remained peaceful,” there was nothing peaceful about some of the messaging from terrorist sympathizers.

And the message was sent.

Those who support heinous acts of terror are free to express it – even as Jews mourn their dead and Canadians reflect on the fact the Taliban murdered 158 Canadians in Afghanistan.

A woman wearing a headscarf bearing Palestinian colours, a “don’t give up the gun” martyr T-shirt and large gold AK-47 earrings declared Hamas was right to slaughter more than 1,300 civilians and kidnap a 199.

“Every single thing they have done is justified,” a woman named Essra Karam told Rebel News reporter David Menzies at Celebration Square at City Hall.

Karam, whom The Toronto Sun has not been able to reach, explained “Hamas is not a terrorist group” but a “a resistance that has been fuming for 75 years of colonialism, of occupation, of murder, of rape of little children, of women.”

She said the terrorists were kind to their victims.

“There is evidence of Israeli women saying that, ‘They gave us water, they gave us food, they gave us a place to sleep comfortably, they gave us clothes,’ — they got them to cover up out of respect,” she said. “This is actual women having interviews, talking about when they were hostages, or when Hamas members coming into their house. Even at some point, a Hamas fighter told one of the women, ‘Can I have a banana to eat?’ He asked if he could have a banana in her home. Does that sound like a terrorist to you?”

It does.

“Over the last 10 days, we’ve seen hate rallies and public statements trying to justify the actions of Hamas,” said Premier Doug Ford. “There is no justifying the kidnapping and butchering of innocent Israeli citizens, including children and the elderly. Celebrating these actions are disgusting, and they have no place in Ontario. Ontario will always stand firm in our support for Israel and the Jewish people.”

What does Mississauga Mayor Bonnie Crombie have to say about this and the anti-Israel narratives being pushed at the “Gaza Plaza” protests on Eglinton Ave. and Ridgeway Dr.? On a leave of absence while campaigning for the Liberal leadership in northern Ontario, I held this column back a day to give her a chance to respond.

Crombie said Monday that “I strongly condemn Hamas’ recent terrorist attacks and any action or gathering, clothing or paraphernalia that celebrates the murder and kidnapping of civilians,” and that “any action that glorifies Hamas or another listed terrorist organization is entirely unacceptable in our province.”

Filling in for her as acting mayor, Councillor Chris Fonseca said her position is clear that “any gatherings or protests that seek to divide our city and promote hate or violence will not be tolerated.”

Fonseca also wrote “City of Mississauga Municipal law enforcement officers and Peel Regional Police are aware of the recent activities occurring at this plaza, including rallies, some of which celebrated the violence happening the Middle East” and “I strongly denounce any protests or gatherings that condone violence or glorify the loss of innocent lives as a result of this conflict.”

There’s just too much of it going on in the GTA right now.

For example, there were graffiti attacks on a mosque in Toronto’s east-end, a Hamas flag at last Monday’s Toronto protest and an anti-Semitic slogan written on a building in Etobicoke’s Centennial Park over the weekend which said “attack the Jew.” Police have made an arrest in the first one and are investigating the other two incidents.

Needless to say, this is concerning.

“The continued presence at rallies across the country of the flags of listed terrorist entities demonstrates that these rallies are not as advertised,” said B’nai Brith research manager Richard Robertson. “They are not being used to encourage peace, but rather are serving as sites of convergence for those who wish to promote hate.”

Every one of those terrorist supporters needs to be deported to Palestine.
