Well, with this thread being found in the “Canadian Politics” area, I’m going to bring up our leader at the G7 or G8 or Gee Wiz economic summit in Hiroshima…& his recent interaction with the Italian Prime Minister.

On a positive note, he wasn’t in a costume dress like Mario and making pizzas, but he did try to lecture her about LBBTQ rights. There’s a time and place for everything, but this was neither the time or place.

Prime Minister Justin Trudeau, a self-described feminist, is being slammed for his “repugnant” behaviour after trying to “mansplain” democracy to Italian counterpart Giorgia Meloni.

Meloni seemed none too pleased Friday at the G7 summit in Hiroshima, Japan, when Trudeau told her before private, bilateral talks that “Canada is concerned about some of the positions Italy is taking in terms of LGBT rights.” He added that he was looking forward to speaking to her more about the issue and “other democratic principles that the world needs.” (Like the Emergencies Act?)

Italian media was quick to condemn Trudeau’s latest misstep on the world stage with the Milan-based Libero newspaper splashing a picture of the Grit prime minister on its front page in blackface with the headline, translated from Italian, saying, “This buffoon wants to teach us lessons.”

Before leaving Japan, Meloni accused Trudeau of being “the victim of fake news” when asked by reporters about his comments.

Speaking in Italian, she said Trudeau was a “bit rash” in his comments, but that after they spoke he probably understood that what gets written about her doesn’t correspond to reality. Meloni also pointed out she hasn’t changed any existing legislation on LGBTQ issues.
In her meeting with Trudeau, Meloni said that “her government is following court decisions and is not deviating from previous administrations,” according to the note.

Well considering the current leader of Italy is a Fascist...

Yes, I get the irony that Capt. Idiot is trying to explain democracy to someone like this, especially when his own decisions are questionable.

Yes it comes off as 'mansplaining'.

But then, sometimes, bitch needs a mansplaining. :p

We taught Italy a lesson in 1943.

We taught Italy a lesson in 1943. So far they've remembered it.

Little funny to hear you agreeing with criticisms of "mansplaining," but any stick to beat a dog, enit?

One of the few times you can truly say "we" where Canadians fought side by side with Americans.

Yeah, ironic I’ll agree. Picturing Socks McBlackface riding in on his “Emergencies Act” pony to Shanghai the Italian PM on TV to preach about rights and democracy right before the go for their off-camera discussion, where she doesn’t get the reply back except off-camera is feminism in action I guess. Love the eye contact in the below picture:

Trudeau directly with the camera, & Meloni directly with Trudeau’s left ear. Building bridges of commonality with an Ally, but she’s a woman (and apparently ‘right’ leaning), so under the bus she goes…😉

The longer this dude is around, the more consistent to his own behavioural patterns becomes obvious.

Not my intention, but trying to find some humour in another international incident that diplomats & a future Canadian PM will get to clean up after. At least he didn’t take a former member of the “Red Brigades” as his personal chef to wave at the Italian PM from off stage.
