Far better than being dukedom over by OntariOWE.From the U.S. ?
Can we secede Alberta and Saskatchewan to you instead? You can live the dream of living in a country that looks like someone giving the finger.
We were buying China steel and relabeled it Canadian to defeat the trade restrictions.I think they make a little - wasn't that the issue with the trade dispute with the us? We can sell our steel, but what they were doing is mixing some of ours with a lot of chinese steel and selling it that way?
Might even beat his mother’s husband.Worst leader in Canadian history.
I saw what you did thereMight even beat his mother’s husband.
Guess we can expect more deaths come winter 'cuz the climate does change!! Who knows what's in store because Mother Nature can be cruel!!When will environmentalists stand up and carry the liabilities of their stupidity?
A victory??? Will EU have any environmentalists come spring?
Climate incompatible France-Spain gas pipeline cancelled

Red card to EU-backed ‘MidCat’ is major victory for campaigners
In a victory for the movement for a fossil free Europe, a climate-damaging gas pipeline project between France and Catalonia has today been blocked by French energy regulators. Permission and funding for the central portion of the controversial ‘MidCat’ mega-project – the STEP (South Transit Eastern Pyrenees) – was refused by France’s Energy Regulatory Commission, on grounds of lack of necessity and high cost. Spanish regulators are expected to follow suit tomorrow.
The decision marks the possible end of the entire ‘MidCat’ endeavour, leaving stranded other sections of the pipeline that are already built. Friends of the Earth says this is a key victory for campaigners opposing new fossil gas infrastructure.
Antoine Simon, fossil free campaigner for Friends of the Earth Europe said:
“This dramatic red card to the MidCat gas pipeline marks a major victory in the fight to stop new climate-wrecking fossil gas projects. Activists, NGOs and local communities have been fighting this useless project for years, knowing it’s bad for taxpayers, consumers, local people, and the climate – and today they’ve been proved right.”

If onlyCanada had some viable energy sources in this vast wasteland, we could alleviate most of the problems. But alas we are forced to import oil ourselves. An energy supply crunch tied to the war in Ukraine could cause widespread blackouts in the European Union this winter, an official in charge of managing crises within the bloc has warned.
The European Union is shoring up its resources as temperatures drop and preparing for two “conceivable scenarios”: one in which a few member states experience power cuts, and another in which blackouts occur in many member states at the same time, E.U. Crisis Management Commissioner Janez Lenarcic told Germany’s RND media.
Homes in the UK could face a series of three-hour power cuts if gas supplies from Russia are shut off, the National Grid has warned.
The company says in the “unlikely event” that there is a shortage of supplies, some customers could have their electricity shut off to “ensure the overall security and integrity of the electricity system across Great Britain".
The National Grid adds that power cuts would be a worst-case scenario. This would entail a particularly cold snap combined with reduced electricity imports from Europe and insufficient gas for power plants to run.
Gas power stations make up around 40 per cent of the UK’s electricity mix but the country is not as reliant on Russian sources as other European nations. Some of the UK’s energyis also imported from continental Europe which is where problems could arise.

German lawmakers are calling for the closure of the EU Parliament in Strasbourg, France this winter due to Europe’s worsening energy crisis.
"Until spring, we should meet only in Brussels,” German CDU lawmaker Peter Liese said in a letter to EU Parliament President Roberta Metsola, adding that this would save on heating and energy costs.
Although Brussels, Belgium is the EU capital, the EU Parliament is headquartered in Strasbourg, near the French-German border.

Europe is facing a deepening energy crisis as it prepares for a cold winter. Gas prices have reached record highs, and supplies are running low, stoking fears.
Here is what to know about the energy crunch and what is coming up in the next few months.
OTTAWA (Reuters) - Canada’s new Conservative leader Pierre Poilievre is putting pressure on Liberal Prime Minister Justin Trudeau’s government to back new liquefied natural gas (LNG) projects as European countries reach out in a bid to plug energy shortfalls. How bad could Europe’s energy crisis get this winter?

In August, Trudeau said “there has never been a strong business case” (???) for LNG terminals on the east coast during a visit by German Chancellor Olaf Scholz, who came seeking a “major role” for Canada in replacing Russian supplies.
“Russia’s invasion of Ukraine has exposed much of the western world’s over-reliance on dictator oil and gas coming from the likes of (Vladimir) Putin’s Russia,” Poilievre said in a written response this week to Reuters’ questions.
“Canada can play a pivotal role by providing clean and responsibly sourced Canadian energy,” he said, adding that “a Poilievre government would simplify and expedite approval processes, and restore investor confidence in resource development projects.”
Russia’s invasion of Ukraine has increased global demand for alternative oil and gas sources, putting pressure on Trudeau to support new fossil fuel projects at a time when he is focused on his campaign pledges to cut emissions to fight climate change, and develop clean tech.
Natural Resources Minister Jonathan Wilkinson said this week that Canada has set up working groups with Germany and the European Union to determine whether it can “potentially assist with LNG” from “eastern?
A German government source who was not authorized to speak on the record said Canada and Germany “are still working on” a possible LNG project.
“While there are real opportunities for exporting LNG in Canada, companies must decide what projects are economically feasible,” and Canada will “support and grow Canada’s energy sector in line with our allies’ needs and the imperative to flight climate change,” Nembhard said.

Well the Irving’s are big Liberal donors after all .If onlyCanada had some viable energy sources in this vast wasteland, we could alleviate most of the problems. But alas we are forced to import oil ourselves.
Irving doesnt want to spend the billions needed to refit their refinery to handle Canadian feedstock other than Bakken shale kerogen.Well the Irving’s are big Liberal donors after all .
It sure burned good .Irving doesnt want to spend the billions needed to refit their refinery to handle Canadian feedstock other than Bakken shale kerogen.
Remember Lac Megantic? That was a kerogen (shale oil) train.
Proving once again that talk is cheap .Freeland called on liberal democracies to unite economically to counter the threat posed by Putin starving Europe of natural gas in retaliation for Western economic sanctions against Russia.
She said Canada remembers that European vaccine makers honoured their contracts to provide non-European allies like Canada with vaccines during the pandemic.
As a result, Freeland pledged in a speech to a Washington think tank that: “Canada must and will show similar generosity in fast-tracking, for example, the energy and mining projects our allies need to heat their homes and to manufacture electric vehicles.”
Now that would be great if Canada had the infrastructure to ship, for example, liquid natural gas directly to Europe. But we don’t.
All we can do is ship a bit more to the U.S. — at discounted prices because the U.S. is our only major market — which does have the capacity to ship it abroad.GOLDSTEIN: Freeland's political rhetoric ignores Canada's reality — Toronto Sun
