Much has happened, been discovered, etc…in the 2000-3000 years since the Old Testament (or even the 1500 years or so for the Quran) was written.

Should the knowledge that’s occurred in the last 2-3 thousand years be factored into our understanding of things with respect to this topic (?) or should that knowledge be dismissed?

Well, as in many things, it depends who you ask I suppose. The biblical perspective would be to dismiss it, so those who take the Bible to be the fount of all wisdom would presumably do the same. Those who think The Enlightenment was actually a good thing would place a higher value on human knowledge and understanding, including most particularly our modern knowledge and understanding of what the Bible actually is and how it came to be.

No prizes for guessing which camp I'm in.

Jesus’ announced His mission to liberate the oppressed in his inaugural address in the Nazareth synagogue (Luke 4:14-30). Luke-Acts chronicles Christ’ mission to the marginalized.

In Capernaum, Jesus liberated a man in the synagogue who was possessed by a demon. He delivered Peter’s mother-in-law and others who were brought to him from illness. Those beyond the reach of religion and medicine found freedom in Christ (Luke 4:31-44).

Whom or what do you depend on for freedom?

Why do you choose this preacher, among hundreds if not thousands, to blindly follow?
You are a veritable fountain of truth today, TB. Because all Christians are evangelists, there are myriad witnesses for Christ in the world today and in history.

Do you have any kind of spiritual beliefs, TB?
Let me sum it up for you. . .

"When you rise in the morning, give thanks for the light, for your life, for your strength. Give thanks for your food and for the joy of living. If you see no reason to give thanks, the fault lies in yourself."

To you, who is Jesus Christ?

An early version of Oral Roberts, Billy Graham, et all....Guess you could add David Koresh and Jim Jones to that list.
Would you like to join the Freedom Church? We have no membership, no list of members, no building, no school, no services, no Really Old Book, no "love offerings," and only One Commandment (so much easier than 10, or 12, or whatever!): "Figure it out your bloody self."

If what you are believing is not true, would you want to know?
I guess, but nobody can tell me, least of all some fool mumbling over an old and frequently-edited-for-power-purposes book, so I don't spend a lot of time fretting about it. I generally have a nice lie-in on Sunday morning.

May I share some Scripture with you?
