In that, he's correct. Reagan himself was silent on the subject. I have a vague memory of him once saying he supported the 22nd.

Reagan was not entirely silent, he commented his support while ending his term so as not to appear he was seeking change for his own self interest but in a televised interview he voiced his strong support for repealing.

I won't argue. It's been a long time.

Nor do I have any particular problem with repealing the 22nd. Each side has their hobbyhorses, and the lefties never shut up about amending the Constitution to eliminate the Electoral College.

whatever happened to the idea of POTUS .......for all the people.?? Trump has made such a mess of this election..........and stirred up so much angst.......... it could get quite explosive.

Heard someone that knows Trump well. say that he would start a war if it meant he would win. His supporters would go along with any crazy behavior from him. They just continue to justify his lunacy.
How many new wars, are Americans involved in since this administration began . How many recent presidents can say the same ?

I question if Biden will win. I don't think his campaign has what it takes to stand up to the propaganda machine behind Trump. I believe Trump will win.
Despite the main stream media being all in for Biden ?

Its very predictable as to how this election is going to turn out. All one has to do is look at the demographics and how they vote. Blacks and Hispanics have favored the Democrats since 1980. The Whites have favored the Republicans since 1980. Since the Black Americans will overwhelmingly vote for Biden, it really depends on how the White population of the United States votes, since they are the least likely to mail their vote in (poor communities are most likely, and are composed disproportionally of Blacks and Hispanics).

Trump will be leading by 12 AM November 4, and will declare victory. Once all the mail-in votes are tallied, and Biden catches up, and surpasses Trump, the GOP and Trump will claim the election was rigged, and that the mail-in votes were fraudulent. AG Barr will back him up. There is a chance that Trump (with the support of the GOF and the AG) will refuse to leave office.

This will take us well into late November, and at best, will be held up in court longer than the 2000 election result was (probably well in 2021). A worst case scenario is the result of the election could spark a civil war in the US.
Nicely summarized. Very compatible with how I see the election scenario paining out. even if Biden wins by large numbers......... Trump will still contest it. He is a very sore loser shyster. No dignity, no class, no couth.

It was in an interview with Brokaw, it can still be seen on C-span if you care to watch it. The Republicans certainly were in favor of ratifying it in an act of revenge in '51 and would look the hypocrites if now they wanted to do an about face but nothing Trump would do to hold on to power would surprise me.

Would eliminating the Electoral College be a bad thing in your opinion?

It might be a good thing, from what I can gather it is nothing more than a "middleman".

Michael Cohen stated that he sees a scenario where if Trump loses and there's still time between the election and when the next President is sworn in, Trump will resign making Pence President and Pence will pardon him. Sounds crazy but there's another view of how his Presidency may end.

But then some could argue that smaller states then lose their voice to the more populated ones. It's the winner take all thing that gets me, so many votes don't count in that system.

I know, but it's too complex to explain to pgs.
Pretty funny the size of the knot the die-hard capitalists get in their panties when an American corporation does as it pleases with its money, ain't it?

They're all hot and horny for the 1% to do as they please without let or hindrance, long as it ain't George Soros, Ted Turner, or LeBron James.

Wouldn't more votes NOT count in the larger states? I guess it would be pretty awkward if it was changed from states to counties but might be fairer?

Yeah I guess you could say that but looking back at 2016, Hillary won the popular vote but because she won those votes in fewer states that gave Trump an advantage in states with smaller populations, then there's the winner take all rule. I dont know if changing it from states to counties would make a difference.
