It seems that way doesn't it. When the wife and I made our numerous trips to the U.S. 20 - 30 years ago, we encountered mostly kind, generous and helpful people. Quite honestly we never had a bad experience with an American.

We used to travel there a lot too. For the most part the same experiences as you describe. Although we were robbed once. ( our room was broken into) Another time , we saw a body in the middle of the street........and the cops were coming. We did not hang around.;-) I still LOVE San Francisco.
We even had a USA post office box in Blaine for quite a while.Saw some strange stuff in New Orleans........
Have no plans or desire to go back ........as t has radically changed. There is so much to see and enjoy in my province.BBC ;-) Beautiful British Columbia

BUT......I would not be surprised to see DT win. ( whether it will be legit is another story. Trump is not concerned about HOW he wins......just that he does. He could care less if he can actually handle the job........it is the status and power he is after. HE has never asked: what can HE do for the country ...but he loves entertaining high level leaders ....particularly if they stroke his ego.
He's already called for continuation in office past 2025. Laying the groundwork.
Traditionally, the next step would be to burn the Reichstag. . . um. . . Capitol.

Most fun I had down there was in Reno when I got stopped at gun point by a cop as I was walking to the casino at 8 in the morning. reality can be very distressing. I agree. But IMHO.....we cannot ignore this lunatic either........as until he is gone.......he is dangerous and we need to be alert to his actions and words and intentions. He is acting out he prejudices by selectively ignoring the Pandemic, the Police violence......... while condemning Biden and Blmaing democrats for any violence taking place.He is the perfect example of what can happen when the wrong personalty is granted too much power. We have seen this happen through history......and the disastrous results that ensued. As TBones says.... Trump is planing beyond this coming election......and the US is hardly recognizable NOW...
Even if he loses..... there will be legal action from him.. he won't accept the results. and he will continue his role as a disrupt er one way or another.
Yes it is just terrible that he is letting the sovereign states and the cities solve their own problems . And what kind of President starts no wars while in office , who is this guy ?
