Yeah, "low numbers" until the numbers include YOU!
It could easily happen . I go out and about most days , and don’t shy away when people invade my space , almost never where a mask . 23 cases in a single day in a province of Five million odd doesn’t seem like very many . Still all these months after the initial outbreak we have yet to reach 200 deaths . I think my chances are pretty good .

You keep doing what you are doing and eventually you will come to the day when your chances are piss poor.

I don't think so. Depending a lot on where you live. Your chances of contact are much higher than mine simply because of where you are. Also a difference in where we go when we leave home. I go to parts stores and building supply. never grocery shopping or anything like that. Even those places have hand sanitizer and the marine parts store provides masks.

Someone from somewhere else drove those parts there. You gotta be on glue if you think you are more remote than Northern SK Rezes where its running rampant.

Couple of cases on the Charlottes as well but it turns out someone made a trip they shouldn't have to the city. This was also the case in Alert Bay. We take reasonable precautions but avoid masks unless absolutely required. My hands have seen more alcohol in the last 3 months than my mouth has in six years. Also it is not happening yet on the island.

The big covid story that seems to be ramping up is elementary/secondary school reopenings.

There are a lot of people who need to know their kids will be in school every day and nobody can say whether they will or not. Even if they are open BC schools that remained open in June were below half capacity. Many families don't care to take the risk.

It's a big issue for the average Canadian family and for every level of government.

Re the above Ontario budgets about $13K a year per student. I would gladly take that money and do the schooling myself. I could much better prepare my child for post secondary and I could probably save a ton of the $13K to put towards it

Also re sports: Blue Jays will play a home opener in Washington tonight. The Marlins just suspended the next 6 games over a covid outbreak (half the roster).

The PGA has played a couple of events and the NHL just played a pre season game last night.

I am not sure what the thinking s but I won't be watching pro sports very much and I question whether a a lot of people will.

Over the course of 4 days the Florida Marlins covod positives went:

1
3
7
17

Play suspended.

So best of luck to everyone involved and hopefully you all get paid. You are ****ing around with a loaded gun.

I've been watching baseball. Seems wrong to play hockey in August. I won't watch basketball unless the Raptors are about to win it all.

Marlins outbreak from what I hear was because they went out partying in Atlanta. Against protocols.

But I suspect a lot of people will watch sports. Probably the same ones who watched it before. Not sure why you would assume a change.

School for kids is very important BUT NOT important enough to risk life or limb over. You must be old enough to figure that out for yourself. A sensible person wouldn't really expect a definitive answer until Sept. 7!

How very right wing of you. Taking money from a union teacher's pension.

True, but the planning does have to happen well ahead. We certainly don't want to be paying for teachers to sit in empty classrooms. At the same time there has to be a plan for grading and providing learning material for homeschoolers as well as online courses. I fully expect the bricks and mortar public school system is in for a permanent change. I don't know what it will look like yet but it will be very different than the current model and you can be sure the teachers union is not going to like it.
