Rights as a concept are argued over all the time. What you think is a right, Petros, might be true for you and yours, but not everyone.
That's why people HAVE to fight for rights.
That does NOT mean that's how it should be. Rights shouldn't have to be fought for, period.
We're all human. You, me, TB, Tyger; all of us. We should be equal, but we're not, because there are people out there who want to make people be lesser.
petros is an odd one. He has the instincts of Heinrich Himmler, but he has a trained mind (he's a geologist), and that sometimes gets in the way of a full embrace of his desperation to mask his terror.
He's the same way with Natives: complete racist. And he once had the honesty to say it was because "too many of them have broken my heart." As if we have some kind of duty to inspire and comfort him. So his racism is just like everybody else's: overgeneralization driven by hate and anger, which are always masking emotions for fear.
Having a sense humour doesn't help? Trying to inject some humour into a Thread that was deteriorating into a "My Dick is bigger than Your Dick!" (or whatever the equivalent is for this particular Thread) type of offensive stance? Is that what doesn't help? Not having the ability to laugh at yourself with the others around you (even if they're only virtually around you)? Is that what doesn't help?
Gay folks are what? About 20% of the general population? It's not a very exclusive club for those that need to find offense behind every tree or under every rock. Hell, South-Paw's are only about 12% of the population, and Dyslexic Lefties are even much rarer, and those Dyslexic Left-Handers that live long enough to get offended aren't whinging on here about the lack of Lefttorium's with signs written backwards so they can find them. Everyone has at least one Friend or Family member who is Gay (some just don't realize it).
If you're the type that needs to be offended, it's a choice (being offended), so Fill your Boots (or whatever your footwear self-identifies as) !!

I'm a conservative, which means two things: I might have a little more appreciation for that side than some, and we will inevitably get crossways at some point. It's OK. I can't hurt you (and have no desire to), and you can't hurt me (and I hope ditto), so we can slag each other some and maybe learn something from each other.
