Sweden's population is 10 million. It's also twice the size of the UK and is therefore very sparsely populated (although it's claustrophobically overcrowded compared to Canada).

You be shocked at what you can learn from rock. The entire universe is comprised of rocks and minerals in solids and gasses. Not that much of them to begin with but they tell the story of time, space and gravity with some EM thrown in for good measure.

It's the Si that will tell you the depth, pressure and heat when it was formed.
I did my MSc on the greenstone of the Trans Hudson Orogen . It's relatively new at 1.65Ba.
You need to learn how to read the rock. Greenstone mafics and ultramafics give me a woody. They have the coolest story behind them. Squat for O2 and Si but high in Fe and Mg giving nice green colours. Olivine is gorgeous. Calcareous ultramafics creates some wild patterns under high pressure and temp that look along the lines of fancy Italian marble with the green and black inclusions.
It's the Si that will tell you the depth, pressure and heat when it was formed.
