the 'error rate' of civilian shooters is less than a tenth of the error rate from trained police officers. I didn't expect you to know that. CNN provides no coverage on such matters.
Your point being, I take it, that "civilian" shooters don't need to follow the rules?

Cops are civilians, Jimbo.

Wrong, a civilian is a person who is not a member of the police, the armed forces, or a fire department. The definition distinguishes from persons whose duties involve risking their lives to protect the public at large. How can you be such a terrible person that refuses to acknowledge the police's service?

Wrong again, criminals are also excluded from the category of civilian, as members of the public, politicians, and the media want to distinguish between those who are law-abiding and those who are not. How can you call yourself a lawyer and not understand that it makes little sense to imply that a civilian is not following the rules?

Emergency bill would grant cabinet sweeping powers to tax and spend without parliamentary approval through end of 2021 - The Globe and Mail

This is unbelievable. I do not see what possible justification there can be for it

Easy. I'm a lawyer.

Well, then, I guess you're not a civilian. Unless you expect me to believe you've never sped.

This virus will likely be cured.
I am not sure if there is a cure for paranoia.

Now that is what they really need to do is find a paranoia cure for the sky is falling down people. Those village idiots are buying all the toilet paper up, dammit. It's supposed to be a respiratory disease, not a crap making disease. What makes some people so dam stupid? I believe that it is mostly due to the fools who keep listening to the the fake news media and our fake news politicians that have been helping those paranoid people to go nuts over toilet paper.

There may be some overreaction to this, I think it is likely warranted and most likely has to do with the nature of the virus and the numbers. If 50% of Canadians end up contracting this, and 20% of those Canadians who get it end up being hospitalized, that works out to about 3,800,000 people in Canada. If only 10% of those people need a critical care bed and a ventilator to keep them going, that would be about 380,000 people.
Ontario currently has 2,000 ICU beds and 1,300 ventilators, but most are in use. In Canada overall, there are about 5000 ventilators in total...again, many if not most of them in use. Some are predicting that if they can't slow down the progression of this thing, we're going to run out of capacity really, really quickly — likely in the next two weeks. It is also worth noting that ventilators seem to be in short supply everywhere in the world right now for some reason. And compounding this, most of the circuit boards for making more ventilators happen to come from...you guessed it... China.
I don't think that the extreme government reaction you are currently seeing is coming so much from the virus itself as it is coming from the very real possibility that medical systems everywhere may simply collapse. If this happens, the death toll from the virus will be minor compared to the death toll from the lack of ability to treat people for all other life threatening inflictions they may be suffering from. The government is currently trying to spread out the rate of contraction of this virus to try and keep up with the demand and prevent a sudden deluge which, at this point will likely overwhelm the capacity of our medical system sometime in the near future.
The overreaction is warranted.

If one wants to react over this virus that is okay. But there really is no need to go overreact and go berserk over this virus. The lemmings out there need to chill out a bit.

Jailbirds are being cut loose in SK.
This will be fun.

They should have left them all in jail where we could wish them all good luck. They should all have been just told to keep their safe "social distance" from the other guy. Just saying.

I'm sure Angela Merkel, Maggie Thatcher and Indira Ghandi (if the latter two were still alive) would agree with you completely. /S

There are always the exceptions. But they were all naive when they entered politics where they probably believed that they were going to be able to stop men from doing what they do best all the time in politics. Lie, cheat and steal. They pretty much soon learned to do the same things themselves and became just like men in politics. Politics is just not for women.

What a great excuse for Emperor Trudeau to be able to take more of our tax dollars and waste them all on his pet peeve liberal and socialist programs and agendas that we the dummy people never asked for. You can thank the arseholes that voted that village idiot back in power again. When will those stupid Canadians ever learn? Most Canadians have truly become an exercise in futility. No bloody kidding.

This could be Albertchewan's (or is it Saskerta's?) big chance. If Ottawa closes provincial borders, when they say it's time to re-open the borders, Saskerta (easier to type) could just say "Don't think so, eh?"

No, that's what you said. I simply applied your stated standard to you.

Feel free. Use asterisks. I'm sure we can all puzzle it out.

I have little doubt I've heard worse.
