Canada has a vast amount of commodities to export but we don't seem to be getting much back for them aside from jobs. I think we can do better. Right now aprox 50% of our income is eaten up by governments in one form or another and we are not getting good value for the money.

TTC suits raise fares while fare jumpers get free ride

Sun reporter Sue-Ann Levy rode the TTC downtown and witnessed many people not tapping their fare when they boarded.
For the second year in a row, TTC commissioners have approved a 10-cents fare increase while fare evaders continue to get a free ride.
There is something dreadfully wrong with this picture.
Let’s consider the numbers for a moment.
The across-the-board fare hike — which will even hit seniors, youth and the disadvantaged on city subsidies and approved earlier this week — is expected to bring in an extra $31.4-million.
A pointed audit by the city’s Auditor-General this past February found that the TTC had lost $64-million to fare evasion and malfunctioning Presto equipment in 2018 alone — nearly twice the value of the proposed fare increase.
(Oh but TTC brass will excuse themselves by pointing out HOW MUCH MORE the fares would have to increase if they made serious efforts to repair the Presto card reader DISASTER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!)
As I observed during my own informal study in the summer, fare evasion is particularly rampant on streetcars and buses, where one can board via the back doors and avoid tapping their Presto cards without oversight.
(And LIE-berals will not admit it but they apparently view fare evasion by select pressure groups as a “social justice warrior” strike at hated white society!! LIE-beral socialist values are so pervasive they seem to think some people are entitled to rip us off for their convenience!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!)
(One has only to look at the rate at which rent delinquencies at city owned TCHC affordable housing is SOARING!! A rapidly growing number of tenants have basically DECIDED for themselves what rent they FEEL LIKE PAYING!! While at the same time the City staff are REFUSING to evict deadbeats!! City staff are even refusing to evict violent criminals for fear of angering certain ethnic groups!!!!!!!!!!!!)
It is likely more if one includes the scammers who ride for free even though they’re over 12 years of age — a program that has cost the TTC $55-million in foregone revenue in the past four years.
(A ten cent a ride increase is not large -but as we see- the PENNIES DO ADD UP and come to REAL MONEY - which the city does not have!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!)
As deputy mayor Denzil Minnan-Wong told the TTC meeting earlier this week, there would be no need for a fare increase if so much revenue was not lost to fare evasion.
(And why is there so much fare evasion now?? IN part WE SHOULD BLAME LIE-berals with their assertions that all Cdns are white supremacists and Islamophobes - which has encouraged a portion of our population to think that they are ENTITLED to cheat us whenever possible!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!)

He was on the right track except — perhaps to cover his own butt for not being more proactive about this problem — he blamed the fare evaders themselves for causing this year’s fare increase.
(Yes - and TTC used to have MORE ticket takers and ticket checkers than they do now - and let them all retire in order to save on operating costs - and that has now backfired on them due to the increasing fare cheating!! TTC exec`s are caught in the vice of a BANKRUPT SYSTEM!! Any action they take to resolve problems produces SCREAMS OF ANGUISH from either the suffering general public, or the entitled govt HOGS or the entitled and often anti white fare cheats!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!)
Actually, it’s the TTC suits and their downright lackadaisical attitude about this huge and growing issue.

In fact, most didn’t even mention the problem Monday as they stuck riders with higher costs, murmuring a few platitudes about the difficulty of it all.
The 2020 budget includes the hiring of 50 more revenue protection (anti-fare evasion) personnel at a cost of $3-million to avoid the loss of $7-million.
(So a $4 million dollar profit - assuming things go as LIE-berals expect - sounds like a good deal!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!)
The TTC also wants to spend $2.8-million on an anti-racism strategy that will ensure there is no racial profiling or racial bias when those transit enforcement personnel try to ensure fares are paid.
